yeah I beat another one in my '90 TurboII, running only 5.5lbs of boost.. isn't this sick? a brand new $20,000+ car loses to a 12 year old car that's not even running at its full potential.

haha nice kill...i raced a gt with gears, intake and full exhaust on a hot day and still pulled from it....he said he ran like 13.5 at the track...i dont know maybe bs because i dont think my TII is that quick, but it was from a roll so that helped me out.

it was kinda funny, I was bored on I75 and got off one exit early to look for a race, and as I get off the exit, I see him driving by.. so I speed up and get right next to him, look over and rev, he doesn't do anything, so I go up ahead, then he follows and gets behind me at the light (there was someone in the other lane unfortuantely).

So I speed up a bit from the light to let him get over, keep it in first, see him get over, wait a second and nail it, pull away from him, he's trying to keep up, 2nd, pull away, 3rd go to about 75 and I'm still pulling, give up... so I slow down and he goes by and slows down..then I get back up by him around 60, he punches it again and gets a jump, I'm behind his back bumper, and I reel him in by the end of 3rd and shift into 4th up to about 95/100 to let him know for sure that I was ahead and slowed down.

Then I see another light ahead, and he musta seen it too, because he all of a sudden slammed on his brakes and turned left on a side street before the light, almost careening off the road in the process. Whether he was trying to avoid seeing me at a light, I dunno.

Yes, this is a typical "GT" manuever. It's about the time they realize they are driving a slow brick that cost way too much money (with cupholders).

Nice kill.

I have raced OMG....8 or 9 Mustangs at the track in the 1/4. Let me see ...

2 67's (same driver/car each time)
3 5.0's (different 5.0's)
5 99 + GT's

I have yet to lose. Its really boring racing mutangs cause you know the result before hand.

Maybe you should go fix your boost leak instead of digging up posts from 02. Racing with a boost leak=bad idea.

a 95 mustang GT busted 2 ricer flybys on me today. I caught up to him though both times just to stay next to him. When I ask for a fair race, he said no and continued the fly-bys. FUCKEN RICERS!

is that 5.5psi on a stock turbo cause if so then B.S. cause i dont like mustangs but i also know that a "new gt" will beat a t2 only running 5.5psi on stock turbo cause i doubt you are going to drop over a full second off of your time without increasing boost and also he may not have been racing or there could have been other things like traction control i know it sound like its not much but you would not believe how much slower they run with traction control on
my boy has a mach 1 and he raced my other friend with a gt the mach one had his t.c. on and lost by two or three cars then turned it off and won by three or four cars so it is a huge diff

Actually the new GTs are probably one of the best cars for the money, nothing really in the mid 20k range with 300 hp. Granted it is heavy but the motor is nice and it can be made to handle pretty nicely (nothing compared to a 7 of course) given the right suspension pieces. I am not a Mustang guy at all but my brother has one of the 05 GTs w/ intake and exhaust and it seems pretty quick. With a decent driver in the GT a poorly running TII would not win.

Nice kill to the original poster!

Still sounds like BS. An 02 GT should mop the floor with a T2 running 5.5 lbs. One should mop the floor with a completely stock one...as it is a second faster.

yadda yadda yadda...

First off...

HOLY THREAD RESURRECTION BATMAN!!!!

Second off, do you want to see the timeslip for the car?

And there were two others that day that were right about the same time (one actually had a higher trap speed).

Listen, the car had (I sold it years ago) a full custom catback exhaust (it was a ghetto piece of crap too), and it ran a verified 5.5 lbs boost maximum, except at extremely high speeds (like 4th gear pulls over 110 mph). I verified it with a mechanical gauge, and with a diagnostic vacuum/boost gauge (the ones that you don't mount in a car, you just hook it up while it's idling or on a dyno).

I had it dynoed on a mustang dyno (which reads lower than a dynojet) and it came back at like 193 rwhp.

I don't freaking know... that's what the car dynoed at, that's what I drove it to in the quarter mile, ok? It was a J-spec motor, with the only mods the ones I listed before, a ghetto turbo-back exhaust (I said catback before, sorry), and I think I might have had an intake on it at that time. Other than that, just pulled out some extra junk from the inside (spare tire, rear sound absorbent padding, etc), maybe 100 lbs, maybe.
