Ive got about 20k on my vette, and im thinking about getting a higher performance car for my kids (eventually) because I know what I did with my car, and what I would have done if i hadnt had it. (probably about the same) At least make sure they are safe when they are stupid... Definitely something RWD though. This is of course over the past 2 years, so i mean 20k isnt a whole lot, and i know i keep learning stuff on it, but im getting far more comfortable with it, and learning the limits of it.

I am starting to grow out of the speed racer mode though. I set my cruise now. And I know full well what fast is...the little lines on the freeway...Solid.

I need to get out to a track and just go have some fun, it would be less tempting on the road that way.

When i was younger i remember beating the hell out of my dads new 1996 probe GT. Specifically the one time i decided to race a gti and because i was a younger and more inexperienced driver i basically slid my car 360 like 3 times and luckaly didnt kill lmyself or anybody else. What was the mistake i made? When i was coming around a curve i started to shift and just for a split second i looked at the shifter (in-experienced drivers bad habbit) which caused me to go into the curve at a bad angle. I oversteered to try and correct it but it was too late and i was flying all over the place. As i found out years later, my dad new i had been racing the car from time to time so he had decided to upgrade the tires and just about every part of the suspension. I didnt know this at the time but that probably what kept me from rolling over or keep sliding and spinning. My father, a mechanic and a racer, had the wisdom and FORESIGHT to help me in such a way. Now, dont get me wrong, there are a few younger people who have had alot of track/road time and might deserve credit, but they are few and far between. I mean, you dont have to take my word for it, just look at the difference between a 25 year olds insurance prices and that of an 18 year old, geico and such know what they are talking about, its statistics.

In the end, if people flame, its not because they dislike younger people, its just that they would rather see some crappy 84 toyota corolla get messed up instead of a limited and highly valued FD since the probability of an accident in such a fast car is to be expected (even from the older veterans hehe).
Lol... I hope that was a joke? ^^

I drive expectionally well for a 19 year old . 30 grand later (of my own money! my parents despise my series 1 with a 13bbp turbo) and 400rwkw after i'm still alive, still clutching fifth gear and still having a laugh. Learn at a young age. First rally car was an rx2 12a at the age of 13, and after rolling that and several other cars I learnt very quickly the rush and the fun that can be had sideways at speed. I'm insured and I never do anything stupid in my car when someone else is in it or when others are around. Some of us youngun's use our noggin's. My roll cage, harness and fixxed back adr/cams approved buckets seats are a testament to that. *picks himself up out of the 'kid's shouldn't drive fast car's, because of inexperience' stereotype basket*
