How much will an '05 SRT4 cost when it's 15 years old?
BTW, I'm not necessarily defending the car, I'm just saying that your comparison is a little unfair.

not everyone ***** money to give up front. $20,000 for an srt-4 is after taxes, fees, financing, WARRANTY, and plates.

those things you listed are most likely going to go on a credit card and not everybodies interest rate is going to be top notch, down in the 3.whatever%. so in reality you pay more than that. $20,000 at a 5.7% interest rate easily turns into $21,140, and that's an "ideal" interest rate, now at a more realistic level, say 13-16% if you're not on mommy's or daddy's credit, it would be $3,200 in pure interest. so that adds up to $23,200, around there, maybe even more.

Id guess Stage 3 or AGP .50 trim since those are the most popular

what do you trap at? do you kno? cuz an SRT with like 350whp could trap like mid1teens
no, no, no, no, no...dont get it twisted! I completely anihilated him the last run when we were on a different parkway(the only reason i lost the first few runs was because of the salt on the road). I was dissapointed cause i thought it was gonna be closer. And I'm sure it would have been had he not had that sausage fest in the car!!

Keep in mind, I just ran him at the every day driving, low boost, safe afrs tuned setup.
the one time i went to the track this year on this setup, didnt even get to hit target boost. Only managed to spike 8 psi in 3rd. Hot, Humid day. Ran high 12s @ 109/108.

i dont know about that. this guy i raced at the track had 19lbs of boost running through his \"stock\" car. but who knows you can never trust an adversary.

But then again, had they not recycled some parts then it would have ended up costing more.
Thats how I feel about it. The engine from SRT-4 in the chassis of an RSX would be one serious looking as well as moving car...

Imagine it in RWD. Maybe then it would be as fast as it should be. There's some promise with the upcoming Solstice/Sky.

After seeing the solstice in person, I can't say I see much hope for the vehicle. I'd still give the nod to the MX-5 in that category. I actually don't mind FWD performance as its own category, I just despise the look of the SRT-4.

I just sold my SRT4 and bought an RX7. I wanted something that had more than just straightline performance, and something that you dont see at everystop light, although where I live there are only 3 SRT's running through town........but NO RX-7's!! The RX7 is an amazing car.....and the fact that its retail value after 13 years was as much as the trade in value on my SRT was pretty amazing!! But I am an enthusiast and will always give credit wher it is due.

I bought my 04' SRT4 with stock wheels+ extra set of 17's, stage 1 ecu, tinted windows, 27K on it, and injen intake for $14500 from a dealer! I had my exhaust guy install a 3" CRUSH bent exhaust(no cat) with a cutout behind the subframe like was mentioned before. I installed an adjustable wastegate actuator, removed the injen intake and installed the OEM airbox, installed a short shifter, motor mount inserts, and slapped on drag radials with boost set at 16psi and ran a best of 8.32 in the 1/8th mile. Never got a chance to run 1.4 mile. I didnt have but 700 bucks or so in mods, and this car was an animal!! If I had spens the extra bucks, I could have had that car running LOW 12's easy!! The SRT isnt the most attractive car to most people, but it is an amazing car compared to whats available today for $20 grand!!

Now I have moved on to the RX7. Bought it, trailered it home and drove it a few blocks before putting it on blocks in the garage for what seems to be a restoration!! The sad thing is that by the time I finish doing all the reliability mods ie; dp, exhaust, intake, intercooler, new vacuum lines, radiator, and other typical maintenance items like brake pads, possibly rotors, front tires, and other small items, I could have had the mopar Stage 3 upgrade on my SRT$!!! But oh well, I have a truly amazing sports car now, not a compact FWD racer! I can go to the road course or drag strip and have a great time!! I also get the total cool factor just driving through town....I smile from ear to ear everytime I see my car, even though it sits in the garage and I cannot drive it!!

Some final thoughts.........RX7 is a monster straight line or twisties. But dont get too confident when rolling up to an SRT!! There are many well tuned srt's with good drivers that will surprise you, like mine did for me!! Ill always respect those cars for their abilities, but I feel like I have stepped up to a different breed of car, and its not really fair to compare to an SRT4, but easier to just agree that both cars are fast and VERY capable in the right hands!! Just my $.02

The only problem I have is with fanboys that fail to realize that there's always something better in one way or another. Some of the SRT4 guys get a little full of themselves just because they are faster than some other cars, but that happens on all sides even with some of the 7 guys.

My first (personal) encounter with an SRT-4 was about 6 months ago. I was driving around in my (old) Turbo II just for fun; trying to spot other cars etc. Well, I see a black SRT-4 taking a left at this stop-light up ahead, so I quickly gun it to try and make the light... Lo and behold I get to the light as it's turning yellow and am able to make the left-turn before the light turns red.

Anyways, the SRT-4 had faded into the *right* lane after taking the left (lazy-style) and was stuck behind a couple cars that were turning into a local Starbucks. I did a short 2nd gear WOT run next to his window just to say hello. He instantly looked up and after the cars turned into the parking lot in front of him, he hurried up and got next to me... There was still one car in front of him, but no cars in front of me at this point, but I stayed slow so that I could get a feel for the driver and his attitude/reaction. Well, he seriously almost CLIMBED out of his car, he was out the window so far, and gave me the fattest, gnarliest THUMBS-DOWN I could have imagined, lol. This (fat) muscular asian guy just hung out of his window, looked me in the eye and (as he shook his head, 'no way') he gave me an animated thumbs down... I just smiled and pointed at the road ahead, like 'c'mon than big guy'... He proceeded to REV the thing like crazy, allowing the (aftermarket, I'm sure) BOV to 'pshh' at me several times.

Well get this: The car in front of him (the only thing preventing us from racing) TURNED right onto a private middle-school drive-way, I was like "YES!", just waiting in 2nd gear for some wide-open space to test out the new SRT-4. Well... The SRT-4 looked at the car in front of him turn off, looked at me and then FOLLOWED THE OTHER CAR ONTO THE PRIVATE, SCHOOL DRIVEWAY!!! He pussed out!

I was disappointed to say the least.

New saying: The 7 can't lose... When no one will frikkin' race you! LOL.
