First time at the track w/the FD

Well, here's my first post in here:

After debating about whether to run my car untuned, I finally went under the guise of seeing how much faster it will be when tuned. I'm not a drag fan and was just after good traps(this was my second time to a strip). I don't know much about the mods these cars had and also have no idea what they should do stock.

First two runs were w/a soft launch and 9psi. Car weight of 2800lbs w/o my fat *** in it. My intercooler was also pretty much heat soaked. Never burned out before a run. IMO, my car is not running its best. My mods at the end.

First up was a Ford Mach 1, looked like an aftermarket exhaust but not sure. Really wanted to beat him since I have a natural dislike of stangs. I was happy w/the speed Race was fine for me and he seemed to run well also, I saw him run a couple more times and he didn't break into the 13s again.

Me / Mach 1
.6686 / .8086 reaction
2.4040 / 2.2971 60ft
6.1145 / 6.1296 330ft
13.6531 / 13.8803 1/4 ET
106.94 / 104.29 1/4mph

Next was a 300zx tt. Had some sort of aftermart body crap and not sure what else. I tried to run this guy once but he wouldn't line up and he let someone in front of him. I was in the lot talking w/a guy and watched the z drive by probably twice and just stared both times as he drove by(he would look then look away real quick). Finally I catch him while he's getting in line and he has no way out now . I have no idea why I wanted to race him so bad, lol. Once again fine race for me, no idea about him, I think I remember him running low 14s a couple times earlier but I really don't remember.

Z / Me
.9340 / .7708 reaction
2.5122 / 2.5692 60ft
6.3442 / 6.3571 330ft
14.2665 / 13.9334 1/4ET
103.9 / 106.41 1/4mph

Last was a Camaro SS last body style. He seemed to have a aftermarket exhaust, and some sort of street slicks (looked like a motorcylce tire) I guess. I thought the SS was a really fast car, so I turned up the boost to 10psi and decided to launch a bit harder and actually concentrate for this race. I fully expected to get beat pretty good by him. Also this was the first car to burn out in the water before going against me.

WRONG. At the time I thought he stopped for food he was so far back. I saw him race later and he did no better. Is his car in bad shape, bad driver, what's the story anyone?

Me / SS
.5769 / .8115 reaction
2.4395 / 2.3869 60ft
6.1832 / 6.3709 330ft
84.27 / 77.49 1/8 mph
13.7349 / 14.4900 1/4ET
107.02 / 97.09 1/4mph

Those are the only runs worth mentioning. Also I didn't "plan" any of these races, for all I know they weren't trying but I don't think so since I saw all 3 run after me w/similar times in the bracket races.

Now I gotta get tuned, put my pillowballs in, throw on the vented hood and go back

Mods:
PFS SMIC
Greddy intakes
dp, mp, catback
PFC
Fluidyne radiator
Greddy BC

Good job man, let us know how you do after the tune....no reason you can't trap 110-112 mph with a tune and more boost (14ish psi).

yeah the kid in the ss is a schmuck if he cant get low-mid 13's outta that thing bone stock.
work on your short times a bit, and you should have a quick little car there.

edit, god why do people run at the track untuned....

because i made sure i was running pig rich and wasnt running much boost.

im not concerned w/the 60ft times even though they are terrible . when i felt wheelhop at all i let off the throttle.

im going to have to agree w/the rebadged ss comment, since he wasnt that bad a driver. i just dont get the rebadging thing .

thanks for all the nice comments guys

i dunno, even if he wasn't an SS he still should be trapping 100-103ish.
2.3"sixties on his part tells me he couldn't drive so well, especially if he was on dot slicks and skinnies.
ss = slp suspension, lid, exhaust if im not mistaken. its really nothing special, its just a very mildly modded ls1.
The only thing i meant by the running at the track untuned comment, why not at least test and tune? If you are going to load the **** outta your car on the track, might as well datalog or hook up a wideband and gradually lean it out, but thats just my opinion.
again, congrats on the track, so long as you had fun and drove home you can't ask for much more

Do you know the elevatoin, temperature and humidity for the day of the runs?

I agree with forgetting 60ft times when you have a nice car. It's just as easy to go back and figure drag radials, suspension and thrashing the car could give even a stock FD a 1.7 60ft.

i ran untuned because no one is around to tune(going to dallas soon), i dont have a datalogit &wideband and i dont have the knowledge of how to tune. i will agree its not the smartest thing to do but i thought i was taking reasonable procautions.

temp was high 70s, humidity was probably 60-70% and elevation of 626ft
