So saturday I went out to Pittsburg with my friend Ben to pick up my new '88 SE. Not 20 minutes after the title is signed over, I'm on 70 headed for the PA turnpike. I'm cruisin along and a new lookin Bonnie pulls up next to me and signals for me to go. Ben's behind me in my Subaru with a leaking front main seal, and has been instructed to not break 3k driving it, so I don't want to leave him. I signal for the guy to pull into a parking lot, and he says he used to own a '91 GXL, wants to see how fast his new car (supercharged model) is compared to his old. I tell him that his S5 had a bit on my S4, but I tell my friend to wait for me in the lot. We head out, line up, clear highway. 3 honks and it's on. I'm in 3rd 'cause I'm not used to the car (2nd would have been a much better choice), and he takes me off the line but only pulls about 4 cars by 120. We line up again, I give the honks, go WOT in 2nd this time and got him about at my tail, and he didn't get me till I was almost out of 3rd, but wasn't goin anywhere with it. We parked again, and chatted for a while. He was a real cool guy, nice as hell.

I get back home, and i'm comin up 83 to 81 just cruisin at 80. This white integra cuts far left to far right nearly hitting my RR corner doing about 100. I drop 3rd and pull him back in on the ramp. I ran out 4th gear going by him, put down the headlights (only had them up for novelty) figuring at those speeds it may help some, grab 5th and rode to my exit a good ways ahead of him.

Late that night I'm on 2nd street downtown. Of 3 lanes, the right one goes straight, and the left 2 go left as the road becomes 2 way again. I'm just headed out to show my friend my new car uptown, going straight. These 2 skinhead lookin fellas in a Passat GLS drop it from the light in the middle lane, but have to cut me off to grab the position by 2 way road. We turn down to front street (2 lanes each way) and line up. He holds up the 3 2 1, and I let him have it in 2nd, 3rd he stopped losing ground, but wasn't pulling off my rear. I do a shitty job of grabbing 4th, but didn't give him enough room to not get lost from there.

Just a few stories with the new car on it's first day as mine. All racers at least gave me a thumbs up, but the Passat driver looked PISSED.
