fire in race
so i was crusin around with my fc and this younger kid driving a fiero keeps trying to race me reving his engine pulling next to me so i finally give in and we race at a stop light the race was easy and boring (i won). but when we pulled up to the next light i took a look at his car and the back of his car was on fire!! i yelled at him to get out and called 911 to report the fire. i got the hell out of there cause i didn't want to be in the exploion if it blew up. so 5 minutes later from a distance i watch the close off the section of the road and put out the fire. So a tip to all of u dont race fieros they could blow up

Yup, rod breaks, stabs through, oil sprays.
The problem was with the 4cyl, i don't think the 6cyl had that problem.
They say, once you feel the heat on your back, if your not already stopped, your most likely going to burn alive if the crash doesn't kill you.
My ex was a fiero nut, and I spent quite a bit of time working on her car.
Don't take them lightly though, it's very common to see them with a 3800sc or northstar v8 swap

I just realized how old this is lol, oh well, it's not like this section is booming or anything.

PD failure is not funny, I will never own another FC because of it. Had they swapped with new ones on both primary and secondary a few months before and they let go. I've never been so down as the day i had to bury my FC.

yea that and keep a fire extinguisher in your car! Why would anyone not own another FC because of this one trivial problem? Banjo bolt (or S5 PD), fire extinguisher, and common sense. problem solved.
Anyways, I bet that guy in the fiero was freaking out, I've caught my car on fire in the shop where there are fire extinguishers all over the place and I was still freaking out, but ultimately it helped to have all that adrenaline to put out the fire before any damage was done. Lesson learned, make damn sure you ignition timing is set right.
Oh yea and I've seen a pick up truck burn for probably 30 minutes before fire trucks showed up and it didn't blow but the fire was in the front and slowly going towards the back where the gas tank is and it never really made it past the cab area. I wonder if the Fiero has gas tank front or rear?

Mythbusters busted that. They tried to replicate the Hollywood Movie scene. They lit a trail of gas that was suppose to follow a car that was leaking gas. First, the gas never caught up to the car, second, the gas in the tank never caught fire. There wasn't enough oxygen in the tank if I remember right. They let the leak burn for like 20 minutes, but the inside of the tank never caught fire.
