FD vs Vettes and Mustangs.

I drove back and forth from tampa to orlando today so i had alot of time on the road .

Ok the first Corvette was the newest model, i couldn't tell if it was a z06 or not i don't know how to tell the difference. For about 25 minutes the vette was following me through traffic but whenever we got next to each other with open road he wouldn't go at it. After playing chase for a little longer i was about 2 car lengths ahead of him and the biggest stretch of open road was infront of us. He guns it without warning and by the time i downshift and put the gas to the floor hes at my back bumper and passes me by about 2 cars and stays there when i finally start to real him in and get past his bumper as he shuts it down. If he didnt shut it down i know i would have taken him. I slow down get next to him and he waves to me and that was it.

The second vette was an older one, that didnt look like it was in the greatest shape. Same thing with the last vette he would chase and chase but when he got next to me he wouldnt go. So once again the vette is a few cars back decides to hit it i stay in 5th and by the time hes next to me im already keeping up with him and passing him. Didnt get another chance because i had to get gass and get off the highway.

And the last race of the night was a an 03 body style mustang with side exhaust (it looked really nice btw) i couldn't tell if it was a saleen a roush or w/e. At this point at night there was no1 on the highway just me and him. Once again im next to the car and he wont go. He finally pulls to the far right lane lined up with me (the far right lane is an exit lane so i didnt think he was gonna go) so he takes off and once i see him go i take off also. We stay side by side till like 100mph then once we hit 120 i was a car ahead of him.

Sorry for the long stories. I know ive been having some boost problems with my car but the pfc read .67 and i think .7 is 10psi so its not all that bad. My mods are; intakes, dp, pulley kit, 8lb flywheel and an rx7store tuned PFC.

The Z06 has a little chrome badge on the side of each front fender, about 3" x 2".

judging by your mods list /boost levels you wouldn't have reeled in a z06 like that, even if it was a c5 z06. sounds like you had a fun ride home good job!

Yeah it most likely wasn't a z06 but it was damn clean.

Aside from the ZO6 badging, the C6 ZO6 also has an air intake just below the front portion of the hood. Yellow is Z06, red is C6 vette

I was boosting 10psi, everyone has said that the pfc isnt 100% accurate so i figure if its .67 thats close enough to .7 to be an error.

there is now way he could touch a car that traps 125+ stock... especially from a roll
Sorry to say those cars are mean... I have been lucky enough to drive one..... i run in the 11's and i wouldnt mess with a z06 from a roll, no way

beating a regular C6 is far fetched even.....

easiest way to tell is they have a "505" badge on the fender

yeah i know. i seen c6s trappi9ng 113-114mph at the track too. there is no way fd is trapping that with 10psi.

Maybe it was an automatic or the driver sucked. He waved to me and smiled so i dunno.

The only badges i saw was a corvette badge in between the exhaust.

Im going to assume that it was a base, a new Z06 will pretty much eat anything on the streets. 10 psi wouldnt be enough.

That doesnt mean im baggin on you. Its already been said how to tell the difference. The badge on the side that says Z06 with 505 horsepower beneath it I believe. It also has that little hood scoop. If it were a Z06 the story would have been different.

I can however believe that you were reeling in a stock C6. Unfortunately for me, most people that drive corvettes are *** holes, so when they decide to race, they pass, they shut down, and theyre done.

What probably happened was that he passed you, started lifting, and then shut down. I could be wrong, but that is what i have seen in the past. Might be an auto as well.

Nice kills/runs however. Always nice to see some other drivers that will have some fun with you.

Yeah it was definitely a base c6 nothing more nothing less. He did shut down as i was realing him in, waved to me and slowed down.

I wish the cars that i did race would actually lign up with me honk 3 times then go, not wait till im stuck behind a car or offgaurd .

Yeah, I hear that. Thats how the most recent car I raced (look up a z06 vs SRT4 in the kills) happened. He took off, I was still in 6th, had to downshift and THEN take off.

I had a decent race with an M3 and a 35th aniversary Camaro though. THAT was fun.

Thats the best thing, when someone waves, or just kinda shows that they arent a total ***, makes the whole thing even better.

Anyways, keep on truckin.

he most likely was shutting down long before you started to "reel in" becuase those vetts are mean. I watched my friends 350awhp (23 psi) beast evo get owned by the (new vette Z06) at 100mph roll, by 1-1 1/2 car lenghts... im sorry.. dont believe that one. I believe even a base c6 would still get you at those speeds with only 10psi...

well atleast you didnt do a ricer fly by, keep on modding and maybe you will take a vette on, just not with 10 psi for sure.

Even if he did shut down i still didn't let him get any ground on me. Still doesn't make sense why these cars wont just line up with me. I guess i dont blame them, i would be afraid of a 7 to :-p.

from the story, the vette had a flying head start from behind before you hit it and stopped his pull.

a Z06 with a head start from 60mph a few cars back would be well on its way to 120mph by the time he got 2 cars in front of you. you wouldnt stop his pull

a C6 with same head start would be hard enough to track down, but i dont doubt that hit happened. cuz anything can happen. well driven C6 is mid high 12's at 113-114mph. the one i raced ran 13.88 at 106....so go figure

as for the mustang sounds like a roush mustang, pretty much the same thing as a mustang gt but with a couple of bolt ons, but there is another supercharged roush version that looks the same so i guess it could be either one
