If you want to compare boost, there's a video floating around online of an FD dynoing at ~710 ps (which is more or less HP, I don't know) at about 30 PSI. Which is, what, 40 hp more than your stockblock MR2 guy?

I wouldn't mine driving to Abilene, I just don't know where it is. If it is more than a 3-4 hour trip, I would most likely trailor it up there. I'm trying out this new A/W setup and I really don't want to do any long term driving.

We should all meet in Fort Worth in the latter part of August or sometime in September. 45psi can check out Gotham Racing, we can go out on the highway and have some fun. Hell, maybe Steve can even check out the MR2 and tweak the maps a bit.......

You MR2 guy keep talking about your "stock blocks". Do you even realize that we DON'T change the rotary block? All people do is port the housings, which is the same thing as porting the heads on a piston engine. Are you telling me you don't have ported heads? You cannot increase the CID, and most of the high HP guys use stock seals. Yes, you can get lightened rotors, but I have never heard on anyone on this forum using them, and the power gain is small.
As far as the heating issue goes, spend $300 and get an upgraded radiator, big deal. I car track my FD all day in the 90 deg heat with no problems. If the point of you argument is that the cooling system of the MR2 is better, great job! You have stumped us all. If your point is that MR2s are faster, I am sorry, but it isn't sticking. I have a "stock block!!!" and stock twin turbos and can trap 117 with mad wheel hop in 1st and 2nd. What can a MR2 trap on stock turbos?
Now would someone please race this foo

just my thoughts:
you wanna put a stock usdm sw20 v.s. a stock usdm fd, the fd wins plain and simple.
it's a different story when you start talking about upgrades cause the possibilities are endless. if you want to start throwing on upgrades, say JUST an intake and full exhaust on each car, then fd's would still win. if an mr2 owner has $5000 to spend on his car and an fd owner only has $1000, then it's not even a fair basis of comparison. of course the person with the bigger wallet will win.
concerning engines: mr2 owners always wanna compare their 3rd gen engine (245hp) to the usdm fd's stock engine but they never say **** about the 99+ RZ and Spirit R models. if they wanna compare their top-of-the-line model, then do so fairly with our top of the line model, feel me?
3rd gen motor sw20 vs. spirit r = rx-7 wins
someone said that an rx-7 has to be built to be as fast as an mr2... are you stupid?
mr2's need to be upgraded to catch a stock rx-7. BUT rx-7's need to be upgraded in the cooling/reliability department to compare to an mr2, and even then we fd's won't even be close. reliability is all yours
and one final thing... a 14.849sec rx-7 ... nuh-uh i don't think so

Shinobi-X helped to refute all you're ignorant arguments as well. You sir, need to take your own advice.

geezus, i just read 7/8 pages of this thread, backwards :S
I gotta say im a fan of both cars, but when it comes down to it, FD is my ultimate dream car. Call me stupid, but if a lambo / ferrari were the same price as an FD, id still take the FD. Ive just got a passion for rx7s.
Here in Australia we had a 12 hr race at a world known (here) race track called Bathurst. This track is well known here for its great demands on a car's top speed, hill climbing, and handling ability (with its fast speed/low speed/gradient changing corners). In this race all car makes (stock cars) were entered including porsches. The Fd rx7 won the 12 hr Bathurst race 3 years running (92-94) and once more in 95 when the race was held at a different race track. To drive the guts out of a car for 12 hrs straight is no light feat, and to win it 4 years in a row shows the cars supercar like potential.
y did i tell this story? i forget oh FD Cant loose
