I dunno man. I'm fast enough to pull an SRT-10 and a single turbo supra on pump gas at highway speeds. I just find it inconceivable that an MR2 could pull me on the highway. I have a good friend with a GT3540 who has dynoed at 470.....maybe that would be more to your liking ?

If you have a chance, look at the mr2 gear rations. A stock mr2 top speed is 161. And has NO PROBLEM pulling past 180.

I will love to run your friend from a stop, roll, reverse, it doesn't matter. My car should be done in less than a month. If you have a friend in Houston, lets line em up.

Oh 470 is quite impressive, but if you read my last post I stated that you are going to need 2-300hp to even come close to my dyno figures.

Well im not gona bother quotin all that is above, but 45pis, all of the rx7s listed are all 2nd gen. I thought we were comparing 3rd gen vs 90-93 mr2s?? Although the times listed look right for a 3rd gen so idk if its a 2nd or 3rd.. And no offense to ur freind, but if he just added an ic and he blew up the motor, he doesnt know how to keep one up. Yea realibily isnt very good for a 7 and we all know that. That doesnt mean that its bad though.

Let me start then,

That's how your almighty, all-conquering Supra big brother did, and that's not the first time. Furthermore, your godly MR2 is not even there to qualify the times.

ZeroBanger, please finish this off.

The MR-2 CAN'T Win, Even more important...

The -7- CAN'T Lose!!!

GoodfellaFD3S,

Just curious but you mentioned VIR in one of your posts; were you at the Mazda driver's VIR event last fall? I remember a red 3rd gen with Fikse wheels in my run group (yellow), was that you?

Rx7 has heat issues, more importantly the mr2 does not.

IIRC you have to build a new intake
, to make more power without frying no 3.

I have heard that to, but have not come across anyone with that problem. There are people running over 450 on stock motors(without changing the intake manifold) with no problems. So unless it happens to me I aite worried.

When I look at a cars performance, there are a number things to look at. For one, reliabilty. Freaky Monkey you even said yourself there are issues of reliability with the rx7. So why if I am looking for a car to modify, bother purchasing a car thats unreliable? Two resale. I can easily turn around and sell my car for 15,000 US dollars without a problem. I have been offered trades and cash for my 2. Three, potential. Yes both cars have it, but I don't want to spend all my money fixing up mistakes left by a "certain car company". Four, if I do run into some problems, what high performance company can I take it to to help assist me in correcting my problem. There are very few companies that actually work on rx7's.

What are the actual difference between between 2nd and 3rd gen rx7's? Besides hp.

What does a stock rx7 run in the quarter. 14.0-14.3. is the norm. Now when my car was stock, I posted a 14.2 at 99 mph. A friend of mine with a Jspec mr2(bone stock) ran a 13.3 at 105. So when comparing it to the US spec mr2, all I can say is where did the 55 extra hp go. Jspec No comparison.

You are such a moron. 13.5-13.9 is the norm with most mags getting 13.7 or so. big deal your friend got a 13.3, Kevin WYUM got a 13.3 on this forum, BIG DEAL.

Your car is slow and your dick is small. GET OVER IT.

EDIT: LOL, your comparing with a JSPEC motor? Guess what? This is not japan. Compare a 280 HP Spirit R which runs 12's STOCK. You still lose.

Im just gona mess with this part b/c it seems everything else has been discussed and is not worth arguin.. Would u buy a new lambo murcielago?? Im sure if you had the cash u would, as would prob everyone on here.. My point though is that in a test by car and driver a 280k car broke.. The freakin shifter snaped in two.. So i dont think any sports car is w/o its probs.. Tell me some of the probs. with a mr2. For a 7 its reliabilty.. For a mr2 im sure its something else.. Point is every car(not just sports cars) has its probs. and a 7 is no exception.

My car is my daily driver and is perfectly 100 pct reliable. I agree the engine does not last as long and that is a big draw back, but the problem is engine longevity *NOT* reliability IMHO. Someone that cant afford the class of a car like a FD would probably buy a MR-2 and then come over here to bash the FD to feel better about his purchase.

Dont like it, bite me.

Hola,

no insult intended, but I don't think you're very familiar with modded FDs. The more I think about it, I don't need my friend to race you----I want to .

Re: the 2-300 extra hp.......my friend and business partner Steve Kan dynoed ~550 at a dyno day a while back, and two Supras dynoed over 800. I put down 337 on the stock twins, and another supra put down ~425. All 5 of us went out on the highway and made numerous 40 to ~150ish punches. FDs 2, Supras 0. Not sure by how much he pulled on them, but I handily beat the Supra by about 3-4 cars every time.
Steve has pulled modded Hayabusa's at highway speeds. He has run a 10 flat at almost 140 mph. Do you think you can compete with him?

Until I redeploy, it's kind of a moot point. If you get the chance, go and make a 40 to 140 pull on pump gas and let me know how you do.

take it easy--
Rich

Ok where did I ever post that a stock mr2 was faster? I said an mr2 ran a 14.2-14.5. Compared to a 13.9 at the most for an FD. And where did the extra 55hp go.

I already know that stock for stock it would be hard for an mr2 to pull a FD, that is not what I have been saying. I have been stressing the potential part of the equation.

do you want me to point you to a R & T article where they got 13.7 @ 102 and 0-60 in 5.0 seconds for the FD? Let me know.
