I usually do but tinted windows and LATE night made me not think about it for some reason... plus he didnt flash the lights once. He said he was trying to find a long enough straight to stop and turn on the radar and still see me but he was afraid he wouldnt be able to find me agian. lol, he just couldnt believe that i LEFT him @ 100mph

I too had an episode with the local police late one evening. A friend of mine who also owns an FD came down and we wanted to see if the boost pattern was correct on my car. This of course required some spirited driving and being on the back roads we figured that there was little chance of being spotted. Well, we guessed wrong. Soon enough after a couple of fast passes I noticed a pair of headlights about 1/4 mile back keeping their distance. So I kept an eye on the lights but eased off the throttle. The car in the distance slowly closed the distance and as I pulled to a stop at a red light he pools right behind me.

Now, the rear hatch on my car is tinted and his headlights make it difficult to see the details in the rear view mirrors. But I see enough to spot something on the roof. I figure, if I am lucky he will turn out to be a taxi, but if not... So the light tuns green and I gently pull across the intersection. As I do, he turns on the red and blues.

I won't bore you with the details of the next 20 or so minutes. Suffice it to say that we were asked to come out of the vehicle, the vehicle was searched (with my permission), and in the end we were let go with a lecture and a lame excuse about having to answer another call, but no ticket.

Why did I get lucky? Well, the best that I can figure, the guy never got us on radar and was too far to clock us with his speedo. He was clearly unsatisfied with that and even at the end was trying to see if I would peel off at the red light. This is why he didn't turn his colors on untill after the traffic light turned green. Add to that the fact that he searched the car, and you can easily see that he was just itching to nail me, but had no evidence.

You sometime get lucky. But I wouldn't count on it!

I was rolling down I95 in GA when a StateP in a Mustang rolled up next to me we're doing 70 and he started waving me to go, and started gassing it like he wanted to race. This was like day break on a Sun morning. I95 was bare I was like you want me to go? He nodded so I figured F'it so I dropped down a gear and just walked off. 10min. later I'm off the exit and getting gas he rolls up and is WTF do you have in that thing!?!?!

"Nothing much officer, nothing much....."

I just walk away.

I've never heard of stories like the one posted or the one I quoted but if other people have had similar stories then I guess it happens it's just its amazing how lucky you guys are cuz this definitely doesnt happen in my town. Either way its hilarious!!

I actually have another 2 or three...

one was when i was late back to work from luch one day. I merged onto the interstate and see both lanes lining up and a closing gap( even later to work!) I shot for it and looked down as i was bus lenths through the gap in no time and the needle was at 125 comming down with 0% throttle! So I immediately look in the rear veiw and sure enough a sherrifs SUV pulls out 3 cars behind where i was when i accelerated!!!

I was slowed down and he got beside me and looked over im sure to see the sheepish embarassed face of mine! he had a smile on his face! WTF?!?! about that time he gave me a thumbs up... then the smile and the thumb turned as one... he pointed and mouthed s-l-o-w d-o-w-n! I nodded my assent and looked on with amazement as he drove away...

good story, i guess i'll share mine as well. coming home from my gf's one night (this was back when we were dating) it was about 10:30 pm i was coming down 340 (some local guys might know the roads im talking about) and i turned right onto 896. a car coming form the other direction on 340 turned onto 896 as well and got right behind me. the car was so close i couldnt see the headlights so i sped up a little....so did the car, so i sped up again and the other car did gain as well. finally i had had enough with being tail gated and just punched it (s5 gxl) before turning onto Siegrist Rd i was at nearly 100 and slowed to make the turn. as soon as i turned the other car turned and flicked on the red and blue lights. it was 2 of the young guys who had a huge power trip. they both jumped out of the car pretty much going crazy. one came over to talk to me whiel the other walked around my car shining a flashlight everywhere. the conversation with teh cop went like this
cop- why were u driving so fast?
me- i was being tail gated
cop- i wasnt that close and thats no reason to speed off
me- i couldnt see ur headlights u were that close and its a perfect reason to speed off
cop- (changes the subject to my car being "illegal") did u know u have en illegal exhaust?
me- how so
cop- its too loud and u dont have any emissions
me- its under the legal decibel limit, it recently passed emissions and it has all 3 cats on it)
cop- 3???? ur lieing to me. ur lucky i cant look under it to see
me -well thats me house right there (he pulled me over like 1 house over from my place) adn i'll jack it up and show u
cop- doesnt say anything for a second and then well im gonna let u go with a warning this time but if i see u or this car again gonig even a mile over the limit im having it impounded

Here is something for you. I have a FC S5 and do autocrossing in DC with it. I also used to work 911 so I know all the cops in the county. I had one of them that I showed one of my autocross videos to and after watching it said that if he ever went to pull me over and I took off her would not even bother to give chase.

I was testing out my first 7 (bone stock, 87 T2) to see how fast I could get it. I was in SA, TX, on the 1604 coming from 281 towards the 35. It was late at night, and we were coming back from a hot-tub session with some hotties.

I got the car up to 145 and seemed to be slowly climbing. There weren't too many cars on the road but I quickly came up on this cruiser. I didn't start braking until I was just even his rear bumper. I braked hard and before I got even with his front bumper, I was under the posted 65mph speed limit (good brakes).

He tried to slow down to get behind me, but I just kept slowing down to about 35 mph... LOL
He slammed his breaks to finally get behind me, and turned on the red and blues.
Here's the convo between me, my bud and the cop:
cop] what's the hurry
me] sorry sir, we were coming back from a little pool party with some girls.
bud]I got get home to my mom, I'm already late.
cop]You gotta get home to Mommy?!!
me]*snicker*
bud]Yes sir, she'll be pretty mad that I am this late
cop] why didn't you leave earlier?
me] Sir, we were in a hot tub... with girls...
cop] Give me your license and hold on.

thats awesome, almost same thing happened to me when i lived down in FL(Sebring). i was in my 300zx at about 1:30am taking this girl home and i see this set of headlights coming up on me REAL fast and i look and the pass. headlight is misaligned so im thinking a fox body mustang so i punch it b/c i had no idea what was gonna happen. well i get up to about 115 and all of a sudden he puts on the blue and reds (this was in a 45 mph zone!) so i pull over and im thinking thats it, im going to jail. he asks me what i was doing going that fast and i told him i thought he was some drunk guy trying to run me off the road or something so he takes my info back to his car and i see another cop car pull up (i have my t-tops off) and over hear him say "its just some guy trying to get his g/f home on time" . so he comes back to the car and gives me a warning and i dont remember what he said i kinda stopped listening after he said warning i was SOOOOO relieved. but thats my "cop chase" story

Actually I just remembered a story somewhat similar...

I just got my car back on the road after swapping my suspension bushings (SuperPros FTW!), ended up taking two weeks because my buddy broke a couple parts, haha.

Anyway, I was driving home from work on a Friday night, and there is a turn that's about 65 degrees or so that I usually take pretty fast, and this time I started sliding towards the median. Anyway I pulled out of it and made it a few blocks down the road and noticed TWO cops behind me. So I'm starting to sweat a little but I figure they might just be going the same direction, I didn't even see them near the intersection. They follow me for about 3 blocks and pull me over. My dumbass leans out the window while he's walking up and says "lemme guess, license and registration?" I didn't realize until after I pulled away how bad that could have gone. Anyway, he asks me why I took that corner so fast and I told him I didn't have a good reason, I'm just going home from work. All the while I'm trying to find my military ID (I'm still in uniform of course, and usually a mil ID doesn't work in a mil town but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway). Before I even take out the ID he says "just slow it down". While he was walking back to the partrol car I thought about telling him I just got the car back on the road and I was excited but my brain started working again and told me to keep my mouth shut cause at this point I was off scott free. I wasn't doing 100+ in a 35 like you guys, but I was still reckless and was really shocked he let me go.

I honestly don't think the cops in my town give a **** though. When my roommate was deployed I used his truck to pick up some FB parts. He had let his insurance lapse several months before so his plates were supposed to have been turned in already, but it was the only truck I had available. So I was doing 80 in a 55 in a truck that had expired tags full of parts I had no receipt for, and a cop went by on the other side. I thought I was done. I might have been but I made the next exit and took back roads home, haha.
