FD vs Ferrari

Readjusted my clutch so figured I would take it down the street to do a little testing. Clutch felt so much better as it was coming out over 2 inches further than it should have. On my way back home I was waiting to take a U-turn when a new red Ferrari comes flying by and gets stuck at the light I will be at after the U. I finally get to take the turn and catch up and we both hit the next red light.

We both take off easy and then I hear that sexy roar coming from him and hit it, catch 2nd and he pulls maybe a fender on me, I go to put it into 3rd and GRRRRRRR, stupid syncros are gone so I grinded pretty bad lost about a car length before i got it into gear and kept it there till we stopped for the next light and I took my left. Sexy *** car, stopped next to the guy both gave waves and continued on my way, he was a younger guy looked Armenian, I love Coral Gables.

it was most likely the 458 Italia as it was hard top, but I am not 100% sure on exactly which it was.

I should get a go-pro but the wife would kill me if she thinks I race.

I was at the track in my FC and got in a race with a Ferrari.

Okay - the Ferrari was really a Fiero and it was the 24 Hours of Lemons.

Nice. You must be making some BIG power since a 458 runs mid to low 11s at about 127mph in the 1/4. Huge improvement over the 430.

His FD is mostly stock

I thought your car was in pieces like a week ago? lol

If it was the 458, I don't think he was going all out or he should've pulled on you pretty well.

Oh, in that the case something doesnt add up. If you are mostly stock and missed a shift a 458 would have left you like you were not even trying. Perhaps you ran a 360 that was no trying very hard?

I run mid 11's at 122mph and I dont think I would fair as well as you did against a 458.

Either he was toying with you or it wasn't a 458 or a 430. Those cars are something like 560hp and 490hp with telepathic gear changing speeds. Considering the weight advantage of the RX7, you still have to have well over 400whp to keep up with them or lose by a car length to them.

I've driven this baby a while ago and it goes hard:

It might just be a 360, they dyno like 340 hp and weight not much more than an FD

maybe he had the cruise control set?

unfortunately on the ferrari forums there is probably a guy posting up a thread about how some guy in an RX7 thought he was trying to race when he was just cruising down to the store for some cigars.. much like we make threads about honda guys trying to catch up because they think we are racing at only half throttle.

sorry but i give props to the true supercars still, unless you have a 450+WHP FD then i would consider them in a similar league.

He was racing, it was a quick run through a couple gears stop light to stop light and he gave the thumbs up, how hard he was trying I do not know but see a few Ferrari everyday as well as other 150k+ cars. I live like a mile from the Ferrari/Audi/Lambo dealer, went there a few weeks ago and they had this gem.

One of the sexiest cars I have seen ever.

i drive past the martin on my way to and from work where alot of the strip bigwigs have condos so i see all sorts of supercars all the time as well. i can also tell that most of them don't know how to really drive their cars and aren't pushing them because they are afraid of the repercussions. not uncommon to also see Bugatti's here, came across 3 or 4 of them but no point to even try knowing the car itself is 3 leagues above me even if the driver is not.

I've noticed most Ferrari owners aren't "racers". They have different mind sets, attitudes, with their investment... I mean, car.

Regardless, they're a work of art. I wish I could afford one.

I agree completely. They own a Ferrari to show their status in life, to show off without saying a word at all.

at least the Bentleys and Rolls i see around aren't a waste as they are a luxury car. if you aren't ever going to drive a performance car than what is the point?
