OK so let me put in my two sence from a previous fully biult DSM owner. I am not saying that evo's are slow, my conclusion is that most people who buy evos already have more of an ego then they should so its nice when they go out of there way to try and show someone up and they get owned. With that said I am more than aware of what they are capable of. There are the turbo selection older 4g63 came with a 14g second gen eclipse (not a 4g63 however came with a 16g) which is an upgrade in itself. The later modle 4g63 which came with a larger (Big) 16g which was alittle bigger and what is used on the evos today. The 25g was an optional mitsubishi turbo that was never on a production car but able to buy as an upgrade.
With all that out of the way as far as stock turbos goes I dont believe a evenlly modded EVO can hang with a RX7 My proof will be listed right now. At the mildest point of my eclipse I was running, JE rods with second gen pistons which raises the compresion a bit, lightened flywheel ACT 2600 clutch, front mount, 3 inch exhaust, 550 injectors, Apex fuel controller, GM map with map box, and a 16g turbo. Other minor things but thats pretty close. I ran a 12.8@102 w/ a 1.68 60ft @ 18 lbs of boost. With what im currently running on my rx7 I ran 13.2 @ 112 w/ a 2.25 60ft @ 12lbs of boost Although I would have beat myself with my eclipse in the 1/4 mile as far as top end the 7 would have ate it up and spit it out.
Now later on down the line I pretty much fully biult my setup, bottom end, head work, tranny, pretty much everything with a gt30r turbo and had it dynoed moderately and made around 480 @ 20lbs of boost and ran a 11.3 @ 123 traction became a problem every time boost would spike. And I can say there is noooo way in hellll my rx7 could hang with it on the freeway 60-150 ish in honestly it felt like 5 seconds but probably around 9-11 seconds. Now however i am currently putting a single on my rx7 havent decidied on a gt35r or a gt3076r and well see how that feels. hopefully soon. I respect anyone and any car that has been moddified and represented respectfully. Thanks for reading

Chris
