FD vs Duramax Truck

Never seen a truck as good off roading as the stuff we make... The best "trucks" I have ever seen off roading are little Datsuns, Toyotas, and the like. Generally a truck actually has lower ground clearance then a car with similar sized tires because of the big differentials. Not to mention for ever 5 inches of tire size you add, you only really gain less then 2.5 inches of clearance (and crush what little fuel economy you had). Don't even get me started on the trucks with like 2 foot or more of lift (my friends is one of those retarded vehicles). By the time a truck is really good off road, it's not a truck. I would rather have something light in the mud that can't sink myself.
I've got a 2004 Dmax with bolt ons for my daily driver. It makes 482 rwhp and 966 tq.. You need to launch in 4 wheel drive or you just spin,but you do loose some on the top end for mph. the best I've run is a 13.2 at 98mph on 35" tires.
And still get 18-20mpg. It's fun suprising people at a light when they think they can get a jump and try to cut over a lane in front of you because you are a truck.
It is even more fun pulling a tailer and out accelerating an adverage sedan.

I happen to know a team that run a sub 10 second diesel truck at PIR and Woodburn on occasions. You couldn't touch it with a ten foot pole in the quarter mile. Let's face it, sub 12 second cars are far and few between and getting below that with a truck is pretty impressive.
The reason I don't like trucks isn't because they can't be fast, it's because it's pointless. Trucks are horrible to drive and are designed for work. They are not designed to be a race car, they can't corner, they can't stop, they can't cruise and by the point they are into the 12's and 13's they are pretty much useless due to the single digit mileage. I have met a lot of people that have built race trucks, but they are usually doing it as a test for products they sell. If they know the limits of the vehicle, they know how far they can push things safely.

Whats with all the "trucks are slow" posts, hell I know its stupid but fast trucks exist....probably faster than most of the morons posting heres cars. Here is just a random video I grabbed off a diesel page Duramax Run
They aren't entirely useless though....yeah all they can do is run in a straight line but these guys have an ECU with 6 power levels, when they dont want the power and they want the mileage they just click the ecu a couple times and they are back to stock.
Anyways heres the video, truck driver picked the spot so don't bitch at me....camera guy is semi-retarded so the video starts as I shift into second.

If you can stop the video when the camera goes across my mirror you can see I had about 3-4 car lengths, I got a pretty good launch on him I don't think he was ever in front.
