FD vs Duramax Truck
FD vs Duramax Truck
Finally got a good race in my 7!
Truck
Intake
Turbo Back Exh
Chips (Double chipped or something?)
Says he was putting down 5 or 600 rwhp can't remember which.
Rx7
Intake
DP
CB
PFS SMIC
PFC Kan Tuned running .8bar
I dynoed 270rwhp with 80C intake temps, was racing with 34C intake temps tonight I'd expect my car to have a bit over 300 but whatever.
We raced from a 45mph roll....were even for the split second as we spooled, pulled a car on him really quick, seems like than we were even for a sec or so, than I started walking away pretty good, I'd say 3-4 cars @ 100mph. Was a suprisingly close race but I knew what I was up against these trucks can be really quick.
Was just for kicks tonight, tommorow he wants to race from a dig but I think he wants to do it for cash....not sure about that since hes going to get a nice 4wd launch....any thoughts?

I read somewhere that its almost 1%HP gain per intake temp degree celcius dropped, but honestly I don't really care about the numbers, but 80c intake temps is heatsoaked out the ***, imagine touching your intercooler and its as hot as the engine...
I didn't realize but you are correct, he was def in 2wd going down the highway, unless he shifts on the fly hes going to be stuck in 4wd the entire pull...i havent tried launching my car in a loooooongg time but if I can get it right this should be easy, as long as he dosen't get a massive jump on me at the launch i should be able to pass easy....

lol i had a friend with a ranger that raced me in 4wd low, back then i had a n/a, he dumped it in second and was dead even till about 50 then he topped out lol.
but the newer trucks your can probally just shift out of 4 at any time. thats how it is in my buddies Dodge

Thats quite a truck to keep up with a small car 2-3000lbs less. That truck's starter probably makes more torque than the car itself.. Don't diss diesels guys, they're quite a few out there that can hand you your *** like you wouldn't believe.
FD vs Duramax
Boosted Timmy,
Aside from owning a REPU, posts like yours is why I check out the kill section. He is most likely "stacking" the chips. Unless he has a tranny upgrade 500rwhp isn't likely and the chips might give him low 400's rwhp. As far as launching 4 wheel drive, that is the method of choice for hole shots assuming he has the proper front upgrades. I myself have been up to 130 mph with 4 wheel drive a few times-this truck is overdesigned in some areas and this is one of them. In the 1/4 mile you only lose a tenth or two and the launch is perfect. Last Nov. I did 13 flat in the 1/4. My duramax is a 7000 crew cab.

Well as an update, the truck is going to be toast.....
I had no idea what a huge advantage I gave him by starting in 3rd from the roll until last night....
Will be racing in daylight on an empty road sometime this week...and this time ill bring a passenger to video it.
I have no idea what the real mods to the truck are, but there are a bunch of crazy *** diesels around here. I posted a video a while ago of me and my friend in his eclipse gt getting his *** handed to him by a powerstroke ford, who was also with us when we rolled on the highway.
We had a car scouting ahead on the highway and probably 5-7 other trucks and a couple cars blocking behind us. Theres a lot of rich kids in this area and most of them are into trucks, anyone who thinks diesels are a joke should come down here I promise you will be choking on a cloud of black smoke...

to make sure you rape him bad.. dont bring a passenger let someone drive behind you guys and video it, and take out your spare tired in the rear to lesses a couple pounds
lol trucks are fast now a days with there 1000+ ft lbs of torque... hes not jokin gabout fast trucks in NC... my friends 99 powerstroke with adj. chip,DP,full str8 thru exhaust,intake/filter and waste gate mod dynoed 630 hp
then he put nitrous on the truck lol it use to throw the radio and dash kit on to the floor
if the guy has a well tuned truck you may not get him from a dig... 4wd take offs are hard on them but they are twice as fast from a dead stop then a roll

Ummm, have you driven through a city lately? More then half of all the SUV's and pickups are not used. They are just status symbols. The lifted and modified trucks are to make the owner feel like his ***** is larger... much like wings on Honda's.
i dont mind the suv **** nearly as much as i do the big bad truck macho dudes with their turbo diesels. that **** is so weak. those dudes need to wake up. they are a laughing stock.
The reason I don't like trucks isn't because they can't be fast, it's because it's pointless. Trucks are horrible to drive and are designed for work. They are not designed to be a race car, they can't corner, they can't stop, they can't cruise and by the point they are into the 12's and 13's they are pretty much useless due to the single digit mileage. I have met a lot of people that have built race trucks, but they are usually doing it as a test for products they sell. If they know the limits of the vehicle, they know how far they can push things safely.
Edit: Here is an example that with enough time and money, anything can be stupid fast.
