fd vs 07 r6 and 520whp cobra.... vid.

so i havent post a good kill story in a while. here goes.

first was a few runs against a 04 cobra fully modded with a 50 shot of spray. he put down 520whp off spray and 580 whp on. on the video everything is recorded from a 04 gto that makes 400whp. he believes the cobra was on the spray from the quick run they did in the begining of the vid where he was losing by 3-4 cars. cobra owner said he was off spray. i too believe he was spraying as well, considering i pull slightly off the start on most cobras when i brake boost. here is the vid. my 2nd run i missed 4th gear like a fool. this run was at 16psi on pump on my 93 octane tune.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6c859_mPSc

second. this was my first kill on my new race gas map. this was only at 13psi but there is some raised timing and more aggressive afr's. it was an 07 yamaha r6. no video on this one but its a good story..... so im driving down the freeway testing my afr's with the new setup, everything looking good. i see in my rear view mirror 2 street bikes cruising along. so 1 decides to come up. i pull over to the right lane and he hits it and flys by. i down shift to 3rd and start to close him in. by 130's i was on his back tire and having to let off going up to 140. so i figure i was pulling him a bit too strong and maybe he let off. so he pulls over to the right lane and gives me a thumbs up... so i throw a forward hand motion to make a run. he agrees and he downshifts and gets ready. sounded like 2nd on his end, i was in 3rd right around 70mph. we head off and as soon as full boost comes on i pull away.... and pull i put about 3 car lengths on him by 140. he comes up to the side after i slow down a bit and gives me a suprized look. i was waiting for the next bike which was a gsx-r 600 to give me a try but he did not. was a great run and i was very impressed at the pull for the amount of boost.

I find it hard to believe you walked away from a 580rwhp car with 407rwhp?? You sure you didnt have the kill switch on? Either way congrats on a nice kill!

from a roll the weight isnt such a big factor. Also dont get fooled by the hole weight thing. I ahve 2 friends with auto supras making less than 600rwhp that both run mid 6's in 1/8th and mid 10's in the 1/4!

i think he was just using his nitrous to jump out some on me. i dont think his system works 100%. here is a video of it against my supra. the supra was on race gas making 422whp. the first and 3rd run were off nitrous and the 2nd run he used the juice.

Not to take anything away from your kill, but I don't buy the 5XX HP thing one bit if an Auto Goat with only 400HP was keeping up with him..

Here's a friend with the same amount of HP in his Cobra trapping 130 MPH, so you trapping 117 doesn't sound very logical for you to have beaten him (unless he wheels his car like a 5 year old), despite the weight and aerodynamics: http://vimeo.com/2013112

I have raced the same Cobra in my vette that put down 368HP/365TQ to his 440HP off the bottle. No mistakes with my driving or his and even at top speeds, where I thought I would reel him in, he kept pulling..

the gto lost to him by 4 car lengths or more. its in the very begining like the 1st sencond. you can see the car way ahead that was the cobra and the gto camera car. the only reason the gto looks so close was becasue he zoomed in. also my supra trapped 117 at 355whp. when i ran him in that video i was at 422whp. the rx-7 traps 125mph.

here is the cobra dyno and track videos off the bottle.

dyno.

Great kill! Many people do not realize how fast a 400+ rwhp FD is on a roll (low weight, low Cd, great gearing, & you pick up ~ 15 - 20 rwhp since you are not sitting on a stationary dyno with a heat soaked motor). These things go like a raped ape.

Thanks again for the video - very cool.

He's at 580ish on the bottle. It's a 100 shot with a mixed kit and some nice NOS dual foggers. That kit is very responsive, consistent and EXTREMELY efficient (gained him 140HP from a 100 shot). Off the bottle, he's trapping around 120-22ish with shitty 60'. The power is there for a mid-10 second run, but the 60' isn't, although his 60 on that pass was a 1.6. He's positive he can get it down to low 1.4X with the Auto he's putting in. He's getting his suspension sorted out right now. Should hit 10's no problem.

Is your buddy running a porter "HEAT"on?

yes he is running a stig ported eaton. see your buddy has a good working 100 shot. as you can see with my supra run the juice didnt give him much of an advantage. it just seems to jump out quicker once he punches the throttle. fwiw i never seen the 580whp dyno sheet so he could be giving out inflated numbers. thats why i still consider that i pulled on a 517whp cobra.

yes still have the 35r on there. i posted it up for sale, but i decided to keep it. it has a good amount of tq and power under the curve. makes the car a blast to drive and still pulls nice and strong. i will be doing a 22psi race gas tune within the next month or so. i cant wait to see what that is like.

g's 3rd gen i remember seeing your rx-7 years ago. i think it was 2005 at the mazda in clearwater. they had a show out there. i didnt have my rx-7 with me there at the time. i lived in tampa for a year. miss it there were alot more rotary get togethers. your car is very clean. also are you still on the same set of stock twins as then?

nice kill!.

not to hijack your thread smg944 but i got a question for you.

considering your mods on both the rx7 & the supra. Which one is harder to mod ( meaning finding parts, $$ cost for upgrades, ??? to find a reliable person to install or tune it)!

darkphantom, to make the same whp the supra is much easier. its just put bolts ons and and raise the boost. i made 422whp with just bolt ons. but once you try breaking the 500whp mark with the supra it starts to get pretty expesive. a fuel system costs 2000. for the rx-7 its around 8-900. ecu's and turbo kits cost a bit more for the supra as well. but the power that can be made is pretty serious.

i actually just sold my supra. i like them alot but there is nothing like an rx-7. eventually i will buy another supra but it wont be for a little while.

Thanks and yes. I have an A-spec long runner divided T4 manifold and downpipe I picked up over the winter. Looking for a turbo as we speak. Something about like what your running now for performance wise. Looking at the new billet 62/62, 500R, 35r T4, 3574 etc. G

Yeah, most of the Supras pushing 1000+hp use a 78mm and larger turbo.

The only person i know of to push over 1200hp on a twin setup is Ahmit Bahktar(sp) who pushed 1644rwhp at TX2K9 this past march.
