a buddie of mine wants to have a race with me in his 2000 camaro z28 bone stock against my fc tII on 15lbs with a good amount of mods. i think i can take him but i was looking for a couple opinions. what do you guys think?

Not only will u take him u will probably embarass him if u don't drive like ****. I ran a ws6 with intake/exhaust before I even put my front mount and took him by a car and a half and it would have been worse if we went past 100.. This was at 11lbs And I had 120k on the motor and turbo. I would turn down the boost u proly aren't making much more power than u would at 12 lbs u are gonna destroy the turbo and hot air ur motor is getting isn't exactly a good thing either.

thats what i was thinking, if this matters my car has stock ports and turbo, 3in turbo back exh, hks filter,rtek 1.7, greddy boost controller, 860sec, 550pri,safcII,fmic, ect. peaking at 14.5lbs

 

was that a LS1 WS6?? (I could of sworn those cars hit like high 12's)

I didn't think 11lb's was good enough to take out a LS1 powered car...guess I'll have to run this on LT1 SS around here (says it's like 325 hp or something)

 

There is a big difference between an LT1 SS and a LS1 SS the LT1 might be a mid 13sec car while the LS1 can be anywhere from mid 13's at least to high 12's at best depending on condition of the car and how well the dude drives.

Hell my LT1 Z28 just ran a 12.701@113mph with just a couple bolt on's.

 

Well it was off a roll not a dig. A dig probably would have resulted in me trying to catch him till the end of 4th.. I beat him by only a car. Idk as far as camaro's running 12's with bolt ons I have never seen it done just heard the tales. Most of the time it ends up the guy has more than what he says or doesn't end up running a 12 second pass and comes up with excuses. Not knocking anyone just what I have experienced with these cars. I'm pretty sure it was an LT1 it didn't sound like an LS1.

 

If the Z28 is stock, you will take him all the way!!!!! I didn't have any problems betting them. I was running 8lbs of boost. Now the WS6....off the hole.... If I jumped ahead, he would not catch me. If he jumped ahead, he would beet me by 1/2 car. Rolling 60 to 120, I would be ahead but he would win if we would go to 140.

 

why are you running15 pounds of boost on a stock turbo BTW?

if so, that turbo should be fried soon.

 

This guy I know has a z28 (LS1) with bolt ons and can pull high twelves at the track but on the freeway it acts like a 14 second car imo.

Probably becuase your used to boost lag that makes the car feel faster than what it really is

 

lol yeah boost lag with seq. twins..... that was actually based on the cars that he raced off the track, it was on the freeway cars would destroy him that wouldnt touch him at the track.

Some do run 12's. But it isn't the most common. The track I go to has douchebags with big attitudes that run 14.0 to 15.0 with their 93-02 F-bodies. There is always one or two that run what they are "supposed" too but most don't. Same with any car, guys have ran 11's with similar builds to me but without decent tires or a good suspension, I'm just good for 12's .

If it was an LT1 Camaro it had square headlights.
