FB Kills Subaru STi

FB Kills Subaru STi
I was just leaving one of the weekly Miami RX-7 Club meets at
Fuddruckers, time was around 10:30 p.m.
I turned South on US-1, and of course, I goose the throttle a little and am instantly well over the speed limit (You gotta love boost) Then I see a little "Scoobie Snack" in front of me.
A brand new Subaru STi was up ahead and in front of me, Silver in color
with a brand new dealer (paper) tag on it. I got to admit, it's a nice looking
car, especially when you can see the little rear differential poking out the
back of it.
I dim my dash lights completely, thus hiding my bright blue "A" pillar gauges
from sight, as I pull along the left side of car. Now I can see it's two guys in the car, probably in their early twenties, definately looking like they are enjoying themselves in their "fast" car.
So I get next to them, and match their speed for a few seconds, letting him know I am right there with him. Finally, he looks over at my car as if it would pose no challenge, and steps on it. When I hear his turbo start to spool, I too give it a little gas. Just enought to keep up with him, and slowly pull on him a little, and then let him catch up.
Now I have his full attention.
He keeps accelerating, 50, 60, 70, 80... and I stay right next to him door to door the whole time. By the way I am only running 14psi, and giving it barely half-throttle.
Since we accelerated so much, we are now all by ourselves on this three lane highway, approaching a vacant red light. It looks like it's going to be on like Donkey Kong..
We slowly creep to a stop at the Red light. I am still to his left. He looks at me and starts reving the engine pretty good. I am looking at the oncoming turn signal, so I don't bother reving (or letting him know I am turbocharged), until Just before the light turns green.
The light turns green, and he has a decent AWD launch, yet my drag radials match him step for step through half of first gear, until I get all the traction I need. Then by the end of 1st, I am half a car ahead on this AWD monster..
I keep it in 1st until my blue Shift Lite tells me it's time to...then a quick shift to 2nd, and Goodbye!!!
By the middle of 2nd gear, I must have at least 4 car lengths. By the end of 2nd gear, another 4 car lengths.
I shift to third for only a second, and realize that he is bus-lengths behind, so I let off and press the brake, assuming he must have missed a shift or something.
Then I see him coming at full speed trying to catch me. I rev the engine, and dump the clutch in 2nd gear, and immediately stop his momentum, and then I shift into third, and redline it - up to 110mph in third, - just to prove my point.
We slow down and approach the next light, at about 20 mph, as he pulls up next to me. His eyes were W I D E open at the nasty spanking he just got.
He starts yelling out, "Man, that thing is fast!, there is no way I could keep up with you."
"Thanks," I replied, " you have a nice car though, enjoy it." - And then I pulled away at half throttle.
I thought it would have been a closer race, looking back on it. He could have probably launched a little harder, and kept up for an extra half a second or so. But I guess it's not going to matter against an FB with 400+ RWHP.

P.S. I am picking up a 1980 SA that is going to get a halfdridge and a 60-1 turbo I am not planing on hiting anywhere near your numbers becouse I just dont have the finance to start swaping everything out but my plans are about 300-350 flywheels horse power I think that is preatty realistic.

Hey DirectFreak, Great story. I can just imagen it very well from reading your story. Everytime day I love my FB but then I hear success stories from peoples like your self. It makes me love it even more... even though I am fully stock and might never get to have that kind of Horse Power that you do but hey, always nice to know someone that there is some bad *** FB in this forum. Keep up the good work and be safe now. =)
