Does anyone know what kind of power i would have to have in my fd to beat a stock one. My friend recently got one and wanted to have a friendly race. I told him i would race him after i got my rebuild. What are the specs on these cars anyways? Similar to the 8? Thx-Eric

 

from a highway roll you hould beat him with minor boltons.
From a dig you might need more.

 

yeah from a dig u need to be very good u might me lucky if the guy is bad launching but race him a 20 roll or 40 it should be ur race with full exhaust and a few things to it

 

When my car is done it will have a streetport, dp, intakes, pulley kit, 8lb flywheel and a pfc + commander. I was hoping to get a few more mods but i ran short on money. What do the new mrs run stock?

 

286 hp 289 tq. um they somewhat fast. makes 255whp on 20 psi (stock boost settings) fairly fast, but goes thru 1st and 2nd like nothing. it was evenly matched to a audi s4 tt with newer stock twin turbos.

I agree with these guys. From a dig you're probly screwed unless you have an amazing launch and the MR driver sucks. But from a roll with minor bolt ons you should be able to take it. I had no port job and no tune and minor bolt ons and took down Evos all the time on the freeway.

 

Bolt on for bolt on you could lose. My evo8 owning buddy kicked himself for not buying an evo9 because they'll get big hp from exhaust (20-30+), and they don't overboost like FD's will. Modified they have the quickness- good luck, happy hunting.

 

one of my good friends has a evo 9, theyre pretty fast... his has exhaust, intake, a mbc and a flashed ecu....and its damn fast. I think last time he dyno'd it put down 350 something wheel horse, plus the first 4 gears are short. prehaps i will shoot some vids tonight...

 

yeah! i got owned from a dig by an MR...roughly 1.5 cars.

he was stock and i had intakes and DP. never raced highway though!

Wow for 20psi it only puts down 255 awhp. At 14 i put 241 rwhp. but then again he is stock and i have i/e, and dp and stock jdm turbo w/ ceramic wheel.

 

If he is completely stock and his car is in good running order it should be capable of about a 13.0@106ish which I believe would mean you need to be at about a 13.3ish@ about 107-110. Considering that its a MR it is actually better for you since its not any faster in a straight line and the tranny isnt very good for drag racing since you need to shift more. 4th gear is only for 116ish so after that you should walk away from him. Or more then likely thats when you would start to catch up to him.

 

Ok so lastnight me and my gf went on a double date with this kid and his gf (my gf is best friends with his gf).. me and him both drove. We met up at chillis and after eating we were going to the movies, and we had to take a road that he knew we could have raced on. We got in our cars and he is sitting there taking forever, i decide to go thinking mayb hes following me. Im waiting at the light for a minute or so and he still hasnt left his parking spot. So w/e i figure i will get my chance later that night. After the movie is over same thing happens he just sits in his parking space until i leave. We quickly stop at his house on the way to my girls house. What do you know he also waits for me to leave before he does.

I think this kid was afraid to race me. If i knew him better i would have called him out but it was a nice night and i didnt want to get my gf mad lol btw this car looks unbelievably clean....

 

yeah man. i'm actually trying to selling my evo right now .. trying to get the Fd because i am going to college... so i wanted something cheaper.... but my evo is about 350 awhp right now... i smoked a chipped s4 w/ full bolt ons w/ my 3 of my buddies in the car up to about 150... my buddies all own honduhs and they crapped their pants... lol
