E55 Amg

I was driving on the freeway to the gym this afternoon. I see a Mercedes Benz a couple of cars back. Its practically driving on the shoulder trying to get past the car in front of it. It finally passes, and gets in behind me on my off ramp. I get on the street, and they pull up next to me, and take a look. They drive past, and I see it's an E55 AMG. I don't know much about Benz's, but I do know that the AMG logo means its the high performance model. I decide to follow . I get next to them, and see that its a couple of college students. I motion to the freeway, and they smile. It's on!! Because of traffic, it's going to be one time, and a short run. We line up, and both hit it from about 40 to 85ish. I was very surprised that I pulled about a full car length on them. I had to slow down for up coming traffic. The driver stuck his arm out the sun roof, gave me a thumbs up, and continued down the road. Nice of them to show good sportsmanship. I waved, turned around, and went to the gym.

Like I said earlier, I don't know much about the E55 AMG. It looked like a car that was 2-3 years old, but that's just a guess. I thought it would be a better race. Perhaps the driver was not very good. Oh well ........... it was nice to see him falling back as I pulled away

driver not very good? those are auto, so all they have to do is floor it...

did you notice if it had quad exhaust pipes and amg calipers? there's a lot of posers out there with e500 or e550 with E55 badges and yes, they've completely different cars than the E55

Btw they are 5.5L supercharged V8
Power 469 bhp @ 6100 rpm
Torque 516 lb-ft @ 2650-4500 rpm

Top Speed 155 mph (limited)
0 - 62 mph 4.3 sec
0 - 100 mph 9.9 sec
0 - ¼ mile 12.5 sec @ 116 mph

I didn't notice the calipers. One the race started, the other driver would have been the only one that was able to check out the other guys exhaust .

Since the guys in the car were college students, I assumed that the car belonged to the parents. If that were the case, it was most likely an E55 AMG. "Adults" don't mess around with changing emblems.

It was likely the older N/A model. If you see V8 Kompressor badge on the quarter panels, its a low 12 sec car on street tires (high 11s with DRs).

Nice kill!

Those cars kick ***. I remember reading a few years ago about them having one of the most advanced TCS in production cars.

Probably explains why it can rocket it's ~4500 lb *** to 60 in less than 4.5 seconds.

How old is your "adult" friend? Did he put on false badges, or just remove the originals? Removing badges is a lot different than putting on false ones ........ IMO.

I agree. The supercharged E55 AMG will keep up with a current twin-turbo Porsche in a straight line.

That must be it then. At 349 HP, we are probably pretty close in RWHP. I have about a 1000 pound weight advantage, so he really didn't have much of a chance.

Our definitions of "adult" are probably a lot different.

E55's are fast. but nothing compared to the S65 or eaven the new E63 witch has more HP but less torque. according to MB the E63 will do 0-60 in 4.3 and the S65 in 4.2. the E weighs about 4100lbs where as the S is 5100lbs. thats what 738lbft of torque will do

Just to clarify, Adam ran a non supercharged E55 (good for 13.2 1/4 times - pretty quick). Now, blown E55's are within .3 sec of an S65 (S series cars are heavier). Blown E55s are FASTER than the new E63 cars. The blown E55s have significantly more torque & the supposedly slightly lower Hp is not hurting their 1/4 times (blown E55s are just faster than E63s).

he put a E320 on his and he's 27

It's not a matter of being an adult or not, just a matter of preference.

I wouldn't do that myself but there are people who do that.

I don't understand why anyone would do that. It seems very juvenile to me. Your "poser", at age 27, is not yet an adult.

lol whatever you say, different strokes for different folks just like you wear different clothes everyday, you choose what you wear regardless of what others say right?
