I hate to tell you this but a 8.6 1/8th mile is about a 13.2-13.3 ET in the quarter mile. My FD turns 8.5s in the 1/8th and with some slick shifting its about a 13.0-13.1 second car. You got suckered into this race. If he ran an 8.6 in the 1/8th then chances are pretty good he knows what he will do in the quarter and knowing that your car is virtually OEM stock (minus the wires, etc) he knew he had you in the bag. Also, he probably has more mods than he is letting on about. There's a local MR2 here in Charlotte that has an upgraded IC, supporting electronics, stock injectors, full bolt ons and a slightly upgraded turbo and he's running 8.4-8.5s in the 1/8th. If I were you, I'd get a boost guage immediately, make sure your Twin Turbo system is operating normally and have a compression test done. If everything checks out fine then I guess you need to do a couple of small mods before racing him again. If thats the case and IF it were my car I'd probably do AdamC's airbox mod and combine that with a cat-back or a downpipe and just watch your boost level. Race him from a 20 roll, don't sleep on the honk, rip off a real good powershift 1 to 2 and don't powershift 3rd but click off a real good shift and you should walk away from him in 3rd gear

We did a 1st gear 20 mph roll. We hit the line and take off, he instantly goes about a car on me, i switch into 2nd and it stays the same, THEN i hit 3rd and instantly jump right up next to his door. Then we hit the end of the 1/4 and he beat me my half a car if that. I was pretty happy with that, these cars are really fast from a roll. The kid in the MR2 said racing from a roll isnt a real race. To me i think a race from a roll shows what a car can do and a race from a stop shows what the driver can do. Correct me if i'm wrong by saying that.
Intakes worth maybe 3/hp
The exhaust is worth nothing, sound thing only on a 4.6L

I expected the MR2 to win just because it's engine is mid-mounted which makes for a BAD *** CAR to take around corners and on the straight, you almost never have to worry about traction on launch because so much weight is on the wheels that usually spin.

Don't feel too bad about the MR2. They are a very good match for a stock FD. There is a 800 (yes 800) HP one around here just terrorizing the Supercharged Vipers ans Supercharged ZO6's around here..

WOW, 800hp mr. 2...nice!

dont feel too bad, youre bone stock racing a slightly modified mr2. If you saw him shoot flames that means its a full open exhaust.

As directfreak stated, make sure you FD is running right. got the correct boost pattern??? you might be on one turbo only! While a bone stock FD is pretty quick, lets not get carried away...a win yes, destroy not so sure(maybe with a really good driver). In the end, loosing is only a means to an end. Mods! Mods! and more mods!!! Dont let them walk away thining they got all FDs~!!!

Well this definatley isnt what i expected to hear from some eople. I think he has someother stuff done because my friend wit the GST wanted to take a look at the engine and he said no, only if he races him.

I do have a boost guage and 1st gear is 10-8-10, 2nd is 10-6-10, and 3rd and 4th are 10-8-10, so that checks out pretty much, i dont know what happened with that mustang i wish i would of kicked his *** cause now he is here talkin **** sayin he smoked a RX7, he only had a half a car if that on me. That really pisses me off.

Like i said before i WILL try to get him to race from a 20 roll, but to him that isnt real racing, i dont know why he says that, all i see on here are FD's racing from a roll. All in all it was fun and i know all i would need is intake dp mp catback to kick his ***. I need a PFC though.
