I hate to go against our own....but I think I am the only one who doesn't think you are going to get him. I dont think he will win by much, but enough where you just won't get it in time. Seeing how the supercharged GTO's are performing I can only see him doing better because of the tranny/traction control intelligence.
eriksseven needs to go do some reading Even if he pulls it out he will not "DESTROY" him unless the guy weaves back and forth all the way down the track or smashes into the wall.

With some ET street slicks (you wont wheel hop), and running your 16 psi on race gas, you should be able to beat him with a good launch and not missing any gears. Just get a nice burn out to get em hot, not too long, or you will dry hook and def. break something...Good luck

I hate to say it but i think that the big merc will win. I love my rx-7 but there are times when you just have to bow out; and this is the time. The only thing you can beat him in is top end as they are governed to 155mph, but with a chip they go over 190mph (your screwed if the later is the case). Don't underestimate those cars. Oh and if you made a mistake and its really a "sl65" your really screwed. Those run high 11's low 12's stock. Good luck and get it on video if you race.

It's a Benz... so its an auto... that will give you a slight advantage (yes they are all autos.... even the SLR Mclaren I drove today was an auto {I valet at a major casino in vegas}) I think you can take him.
Plus the torque converters on Benz's don't kick in until higher rpms. So if he is a newbie racer... like you said... he probably won't do anything but mash the throttle and hope for the best.

crazyrx7, the 55's are the ones that run low 12's stock, the 65's are solid 11 sec cars, either way you will have one hell of a run on your hands, i've driven an 05 CL55, and i can honestly say it's the fastest car i've driven. some other notable vehicles i've driven, Jaguar XKR, Corvette Z06, Dodge SRT-10(granted it was only the truck). but if this guy has any idea how to drive figgure on around 12.40's at around 115 or so.

ok man i work at mercedes benz here in memphis i have driven the 55, 65 cl55, everything. yes they are fast cars i will admit but i think you should take him because he is most likely just a cocky bitch that thinks his car is the ****. all he is gonna do is stomp the gas. if the trck is slippery then yes he will spin his tires a lil bit this is a fact. i can almost promise you that he is going to you just regular premium pump gas. you on race gas with those tires you were talking about. you should take him but dont expect to blow him away but you should pull it out by 1/2 or maybe a full car length.

NO PROBLEM>>. My close buddy has a sl55 and Ive raced him plenty of times... its actually not even a race cause it never goes passed 3rd gear..cause by then I have a bus lengh lead and pulling like crazy.. .dont listen to these guys dont worry youll win... remember all that torque makes him spin like crazy off the line too.. ONLY thing I would worry about is your driving make sure you dont miss any gears.. My car had a brunt clutch that slipped like hell when I raced him and on only 15psi.. my car had maybe close to 400rwhp at the time and prob less since the clutch was gone... we even did 40 60 80 mph rolls and my car would leave him everytime real bad.. and actually the SL55 only runs high 12s.. like 12.8. the E55 does 12.5.. they are much heavier since convertible.. check around for drag times youll see all are high 12s...

The 2003 SL55 AMG is rated at 4.5 0-60 and 13.00 1/4 mile on the internet. If these stats are correct than you will destroy him. but i don't know if those stats are accurate at all. But even if he runs mid 12's, you should be able to beat him with the stats you gave for your car. Good luck, don't let the 7 lose.

Well, like I said I plan on using those ET streets that my buddy has. He's offered me to use them before. I know I can beat the guy from a roll, but my uncle doesn't want us to race on the street.

go to cft (they tune your car right?) and make sure your putting down low 400's? then just hit the track every wed and fri and mid 12's shouldn't be hard at all. not that you can't drive now, but why not practice. remind us when, i'd like to see this in person.

Just get a decent launch and don't mis-shift and you shouldn't have any problem.

However, I believe the RX-7 wil pull this guy .

Damn, i hate to be the cocky ************ here but if youre worried about a 13 second car then theres something really wrong! Ive had so many people point out the numbers on so many cars but what they dont mention is that these numbers are not achieved by your everyday driver but by actual profesional drivers. Slight difference. Granted with an auto is pretty easy to be consistent. traction control cant hurt you either. I know a blown V8 putting down that kind of hp is no joke, but it takes a lot to move 4k+lbs and thats why as long as you dont miss a shift you should be a ble to take him. Wait you got a single with close to 400rwhp right? lol
Good luck and please make sure you get it on video!
