I was on the highway in my stock 87 TII, and this guy in a miata pulls up to me and wants to race. I didn’t want to waist my time but he rely wanted to race and I had nothing better to do so we start off at about 50 and I down shift to 4th and give it 1/2 throttle just enough to keep even. I looked over at the guy in the miata and has this huge smile on his face because he has about 1/2 car on me. So i look over waive at him and floor it and, ahead, and loose him. But when I pulled away from him there was this turbo diesel that speed up to keep up with me. So me and the turbo diesel line up. I down shift to 4th and stay even with him until all of a sudden he backs off. I slow up and we line up agen same thing we stay even and than he backs off for no reason. I slow up agen and we line up agen and we stay even until he backs off I agen so I look down to see how fast we are going and I realize that he must be governed at 110. So all and all fun night.

good,good . . . those miatas are driven by some real dummies sometimes. Watch out for the ones with the dummies and the turbo-kits, interestingly enough.

Miatas are slow on the straight without a turbocharger. I have owned a Miata, and i can say it is only slightly faster than a 92-95 Si hatchback.

 

I'd have been real impressed if you had beat the Miata at an autocross.
AND they are not faster than an NA FC, I own both a 90 FC and 90 Miata the 7 is WAY faster and has a much higher top end.
Now a Mazdaspeed Miata is a different story mind you.

 

^^i do autocross with mcoman and we get mopped up by the miata's all the time, esspecially this blue one with a turbo.

 

Miatas are fun, not fast. I own a 90 and it wouldn't keep up with my GSL-SE with the stock motor.
