95 Fd Vs. 93 Mustang 5.0

Well, it was Friday about 7:00 pm, I was at a stop light on Santa Fe in Merced. I was on the middle lane and the guy was on the far right lane where he should have turn. Light turns green, he gunned it. When I heard his exhaust, I immediately floored my seven. He got me in first gear, but by second it was nose to nose and by third I was two car ahead. As soon as I passed him, he slows down.

I don't know if that's a win or not, but it sure feels good.

Anyways, my fd is auto boosting 12 psi with mid, downpipe and exhaust.

I will have it tune next month.

Nice kill. I've taken out a couple 5.0s with exhaust, intake headers. Normal bolt ons, pulled on them all pretty hard.

I have a 3'' dp and 3'' cb and i'm guessing around 300hp and 230ft. lbs. torque. Not sure I haven't had it dynoed or anything. But I know the dp adds around 30hp no sure on he catback but I know when I put those two things on it added a ton of power especially when the second turbo comes online.

Yeah probably but you have to remember they weigh quite a bit more and while they are shifting we are banding through our gears.

A downpipe and no ECU? And sorry to buy your nuts, but I doubt you're pushing 300 to the wheels.

I know you're not, go check the 3rd gen dynos. Alot of 3rd gens that I know of are running like 12 psi with some other **** and just cracking 240HP.

jager, that was retarded, granted, you will not achieve 300 with 12 psi/dp/mp, 240 is very conservative

I never said to the wheels. And if you had read what I said I said that I wasn't sure it was a guess that I have NOT been dynoed.

We only talk rwhp here, we're not a domestic forum. And in any case, you don't have 300 bhp either. A downpipe and catback on a healthy FD is about 240-245 rwhp (or an estimated 280-290 bhp).

I have a full 3" exhaust ( 3" H-F cat) and an Apex'i intake, and put down 240RWHP on 10psi. I also ran a 13.5@105mph, just to give you an idea of where you should be with those mods.

I have midpipe, downpipe and catback on, how much hp and tq does my car put down, i.e. rwhp.

I'm planning to pick up a piggy back to tune and control the boost, i.e. apexi afc?

How much more hp and tq would I get from that?

Thanks,

First of all, you are damn foolish to be running a full exhaust on an FD with stock ecu and no boost controller. You're lucky you haven't blown the motor yet.

I suggest you go into the 3rd gen section and start reading before you end up with a multi-thousand dollar engine rebuild.

Oh, and BTW, piggy-backs have no place on an FD....you either get a chipped ecu (Pettit or M2) or get a true standalone ecu like the Apexi Power FC.

how the hell do you get torque #s that close to your hp #s???? whats the stage 3 kit????? you gotta have a ton of **** bolted on cause i do and i dynoed 325 and about 270 torque @ 10 psi...instead of mods its easier to list stock stuff: seq. twins, primary injectors.
I think with just the dp, mp, catback and stock ecu @12 psi will get you close to 270. Particularly since youre most likely running lean afrs and therefore making good power but for how long.
As stated before, get either a pettit, m2 or even a piggy back! at least to get by in the mean time. Or you can go the other way and remove the midpipe. Sure you'll loose some hp but you'll get to keep your fd running!!! If youre in a cold part of the states you'll definately kill it once winter comes around...summer heat is probably whats keeping your motor from blowing.

I really dont think 5.0s are all that great i came up against a stock one a while back, went from a slow roll (it was a white GT 5.0) and i just blew the doors off it.

Good Kill!!!

I know I am gonna get slammed for saying this but not all 5.0's are crap. My girl has a 87 LX 5.0 Notchback and it was at 430+ rwhp. Yeah it is heavy but it is fun as crap to drive. Still not as fun as my little go-kart (aka 82 streetported 12a)

I can't discriminate. If it is a fast vehicle then thumbs up.

Talking Yup

Yes, i agree with you dcs. And my old 93 stang that i gave to my wife has put down 289 horsepower and 350 torque. Its very fun to drive. But its not a 5.0. Its gotta mild 351 windsor.
