94 rx7 vs 91 gto tt

alright i just bought my 94 fd while i am in japan and my buddy bought my 91 gto(3000gt VR4) which is bone stock and my fd has a catback as its only performance mod soo far. well we raced a lil; from apox 50kph 2nd at 3800rpms-mid 4 th and it was pretty much dead even as he jumped out about a nose and on the 4 shift i started to pull ahead and had to let off due to traffic. does this sound about right? i know the gto is fast but i thought the rx7 was faster. anyways i ordered a down pipe and am looking for an intake. just wondering if my car is performing like it should. btw the car pulls insane from 4500-7500.

yeah but i think it has a manual boost controller because the gauge shows 8 psi insatantly and doesnt drop until the 2nd one comes online and you can feel it but only for a split second and then its back up to 8 and it feels like the car is pulling harder after the second one comes online its just not at 10 psi.

i know it should but it doesnt get over 8 its always in the vaccum area at around 2-5 at idle or when driving normal not in boost. is this normal? but like i said it jumps to 5 at half throttle and instant 8 full then drops to 6 and back up to 8. idk if there is a manual boost controller or something limiting it, can anyone tell me where to look for one to check?

I'm new to FD's also ( I've had mine for a few months), but 10-8-10 is the correct stock boost pattern. 8-6-8 means something is wrong. At idle vacumn should be about -17mmHG, that what my boost gauge reads.

Boost leak maybe?

Hope this helps.

i think the gauge isnt calibrated to be honest with you i can not find any leak at all. i may have a small exhaust leak but i will worry about that on sat when i put in a new downpipe.

The VR-4, if bone stock, should only be trapping ~100-105, so I would think with some very basic mods to the 7 it'd be no contest.
