Here is a shitty video of me vs my buddies 03 EVO with exhaust, intake,SAFC,and 21psi. I was still on stock twins, non-seq and stock fuel, you can hear me hit fuel cut at the end. It shows you maybe what you could expect.

I assume that was you passing by on the right side( vid wasn't quite clear)

Anyway...latest update:
We took both cars out to do a time trial on a public road early in the am ( to avoid traffic) The EVO was faster by 10 seconds....one point EVO
As we left the test area with both cars ( by this time were both hyped up fo some street fun) I drive off in front and we begin cruising throgh the steets looking for a ggod strip. We hit a deserted back road and the FUN BEGINS.
I'm still granny shifting at 6000rpm cuz my afr shows a bit lean, however seems the EVO can pass and at some time drops to about 2 car lenghts behind. We hit a nice area with 3 long sweeping curves and IT ON AGAIN! Same result...RX7 always in front. At the end of the road we pul longside and i ask him if he felt he'd been able to pass at anytime. ANSWER...no way " car seems to walkaway once it gets going"
Anyway he got a RALLIART ECU this weekend and I'm scheduled for a minor mod change also...then were going again!

I thought Evo VII's were grossly underrated? Either way it's plausible that the 7 would win, but to beat it that bad sounds strange.

UPDATE:
got smoked by 1.5 lengths...we ran from a dig.

1st gear at 6k launch...were even
1st to 2d at 8k...i am just slightly ahead untill i lose traction
2nd to 3rd at 7k...he's about 3/4 length ( i think here is were i really lost)
not much room to run out the third...but a the end he pulled another 1/2 car...my rpms at about 7k.

Strangely though: on the way home from the run we get into some action on the streets. at the lights with a roll start to avoid traffic were just about even. In fact he says he has to do evrything to keep up!

I have: DP, exhaust, streetport, Redom ECU, FPR, intakes
he HAs: DP, exhaust, Ralliart ecu, BOV, intakes

What is strange? From a dig a AWD should beat a FR anyday on launch. With the roll start, you take away his ability to launch with very little wheelspin while you burn your tires off.

/\/\ not really, any FR or FF can launch as good if not better than any AWD with the right suspension setup!!

I believe with a better driver ( i'm not the best at launching) the cars would run even. Plus my suspensions shot to **** right now!

True, but how many street FRs and FFs do you see with the right suspension. A stock WRX STi can be launched a about 6000RPM without excessive wheelspin. Show me a stock FR or FF with 300hp that can do that.

run him from a roll at like 60 or 40 and run till about 120 you should like the results as he will experience drivetrain powerloss from the AWD

Powerloss? You mean suddenly he's making less power because he's travelling faster? No, I think you mean that you have elminated the AWD launch factor. I get this crap all the time from 2WD guys, but what they don't realize is that my Evo is still trapping ~107mph. STI's are slower from 100+mph because of their gearing, and AWD don't seem as fast from a roll because they aren't getting their 1.7 second 60' in. You better believe that if he is trapping higher that he is still faster from a roll.

at the end of the DAY its: CAR+DRIVER vs CAR+DRIVER !
it just means the FD needs to launch better as well as have a better 2nd to 3rg gear pick up to compensate.

dude, you're gonna walk him. I just beat an evo VIII mr, stock, with my not-gonna-be-stock-for-much-longer fd. I almost think they are overrated.

UPDATE.....street run with rolling start = OWNED!
I was shocked given our previous encounters I thought he was sandbagging. The car was walking away from the EVO from 2nd through 4th.(doing about 125mph) I ddnt have time to really look back but lets just say at one time i thought he had mechanical problems .
