89 n/a vs 2nd gen Scion Tc
So I came up beside a 2nd gen Scion Tc last night.at a light. When we left the light I needed over and sped up. I guess they thought we were racing and matched my speed to stay right beside. I had shifted to third so I dropped back down to second to speed up and get over and it was on. When I dropped to second they nailed it and got the jump on me. My nose was at their rear wheel and that's where we stayed dead even until I got to the top of 2nd. Finally started to pull slightly as the overrev buzzer went off. Shifted to third but we were coming up on slower traffic. I stayed in it and passed them then hit the brakes due to the traffic in front of us and slowed down and ducked behind them so I could make my right turn at the light. They beeped as they went by. Unfortunately, I don't know if I actually won or if they had let off before me because of the traffic. Anyway I was slightly surprised as I guess I thought I would drop to second and blow by them. After looking up their specs online they are actually faster than I thought and this outcome of almost losing or maybe losing was probably to be expected. Oh well time to get off my butt and get my standalone installed so I can learn to tune and go turbo.
I pulled in to a bar the other night and one in front of me was revving, so I let my v8 SA sing…..needless to say I got much more attention. Guy comes over after we parked checking my ride out etc. said he was pushing 650 (in my mind I am saying this guy is looney). I simply asked yeah but “ how many times have you blown it up”? His friends lose it laughing as he said 3 times so far. I would have raced him but beer and racing don’t mix even though I only had 1 at a previous place.
I will certainly give them more cred and drive accordingly if I ever run one.
