88SE vs 88GTu vs 92 240sx

my car: 88 SE, K&n filter, short shifter, gutted cats to single exhaust.
GTU: downpipe, gutted cat, going into stock mufflers
240sx: ported intake manifolds, Silvia flywheel, exedy clutch, intake filter, apexi n1 exhaust

1st race: we lined up, i launched from 4.5k, put about 3 cars on the GTU and the GTu takes the 240sx by a car.

2nd race: launched from 4.5k, spin bad up to redline, i put about 2 cars on the 240, the 240 takes the GTu by about half a car.

All 3 drivers are equal to driving skills. Why am i beating them so badly? =] especially my friends 240sx.

gutted cats and exhaust are whats making the difference, the stock mufflers are awfuly restrictive. i had a 87 se with the same mods as your se except a dual muffler system and i raced a 87 gxl and kept putting 5 cars on him from a stop to 70.
