87T2 T04E AI vs 08 Mustang GT

I am trying to find the best combination of injectors for my 2-stage AI system so I was out tuning and data logging with the current set-up when I came across a 2008 Mustang GT. (specs 300@5750 320@4500 ft/lbs). I am pretty sure it wasnt a Shelby, but not positive, so those are the specs on the GT model from the factory.

The 'stang just kinda looked like it wanted to race, so I pulled up next to him and jammed on it. When I let off, he jumped even with me then we slowed down a bit to give us plenty of space on the open highway.

We were at a 50-ish mph roll, and I was in 3rd. He jammed on it and got a quick lead. In a split second I caught him, and even started pulling just slightly. I grabbed 4th at 6500 rpm ( a tad early) and started 4th gear from a little too low in the RPM range, but we were DEAD even...

I got about halfway through 4th and we both let off because there was some light traffic ahead. I threw my hand out the moon roof and exit the highway.

The run was litterally the tightest I've ever driven, but I was a bit suprised that I couldn't pull him... I think tonight I may pull my exhaust system off and see what the car looks like with no resriction.

I can post the data log a little later tonight from the 'Stang run.

That was a Roush Mustang. Had the Roush wing and exhaust. Probably one of the lower models, it was just an n/a v8..

mmmmm... i thought it looked different than Ford's description of the GT, but I couldn't really see the decals and all that.

I was a little baffled that it was such a tight race because of this run...

I am sure it wasn't a Roush, because they have the square logo on the side...

This one was black and had the GT logo but looked more this THIS

than THIS

or this

I am fairly positive it was NOT stock... i just posted numbers for a factory GT because that was the decal he had on the fender.

Once I started looking online, I realized he had upgrades (exhaust and wing for starters)

I'd say I'm over 300hp

If it was a Shelby you would've gotten raped. 500hp/lb-ft from factory.

k that is kinda irrelevant to the thread but whatever and you also failed to mention your "shelby" is about 4000 pounds and that 500 is crank horsepower where as we are talking rwhp so I wouldnt go saying it would raped(not saying that it would win). especially when there is a vid of a 550 rwhp cobra on this forum that ties with a 400 rwhp fd.

these ar'nt automatics!!! the driver has somthing to do with it too. torque is another factor along with distance. one thing I never hear people never talk about and I mean never is car condition.
you can have a non turbo fc beat the crap out if a turbo'ed mk3 why, cause the dude never got an oil change or even find that small boost leak. lol it's so funny how people say that car could never beat that car. conditioning is the key, then come skill.

there isnt much more i could've done in this situation. It was a 3rd gear pull, through 4th on the freeway. When I saw his nose jump, I jumped. There were cars up ahead, when we ran into them, we stopped.

I was a little suprised I didnt leave him behind, but I have NO IDEA what was done to this particular stang... could've had NOS or been blown for all I know. If it was a GT, I would've raped him, that much I know.

If you want to know the condition of my car, just click below... no need to repeat the same **** over and over.
