2nd chance against Porsche turbo
It must be more than a year since I first raced a Porsche Turbo. Last time it was on the freeway up to about 140. Today it was from about a 10 mph roll to about 80, with the same results as last time.

OOOOOOOOOPS
I guess that wasn't enough detail
So I see this nice looking Porsche come up behind me, but there are a couple of cars in front. I get around them, and he follows. I pull in front of the last car, and leave my lane open for him, as we head toward the red light. Just before we get there, the light changes to green. I hit it, and spin the rear tires in first gear. I shift nicely into 2nd, and wind it up. Then I get to about 80 in third gear, and I have to let up. There is traffic up ahead. My FD ran great, and it was a fun race. I'm running 13 psi. The Porsche guy gave me a thumbs up, and went on his way. Cool guy. He looked to be about 30 ish. I am guessing the that the Porsche Turbo was about an 04 model. It looked really nice.

It looked exactly the same as the one in the pics, except it had a small rear wing.
I left work early today to play some beach volleyball with some friends. I'm in the FD, and had to go home first. I see this nice looking Porsche ahead of me. He stops for a stoplight, and I get in behind him. No room to race here. I follow him to an area where we might get a race, and I cruise past him. We check out each others cars. He looks to be in his early 50's. I get in front of him in traffic approaching an intersection, and the light changes. He stops. ****!! I wait for him at the next light. He cruises by and rolls down his window. I din't hear all of what he said, but there was something about 150 mph..... blah blah blah. I said "how about a race". He waves his hand to motion that there is not room yet. He is right. Traffic clears for a moment, and we both hit it for a short burst from about 40 mph. I pull on him about 1/2 a car length and have to slow for traffic. He passes me on the left, and I pull in behind him at the next light. There is no one in front of him, and I am anticipating that he will go hard when the light changes. He goes quickly, and then waits for me to pull along side
I like this guy. We are at about 40 mph. I give him a nod, and he goes an instant before I do. I pull on him about 1/2 car length by the end of 2nd, and another 1/2 car length before we have to shut down at around 80 mph. He pulls along side, and asks "does that thing have a turbo?" I reply "yes, they come that way from the factory. Nice car, have a nice night". I was turning right, and he was turning left. A friendly wave, and we went our separate ways.
It isn't very often that the guys in the expensive Porsches will race, so I have to give him a lot of credit. I liked this guy, and I honestly felt bad for him because part of the "blah blah blah" was " I just got the car yesterday"

I'm pretty proud that my lightly modded FD can run even with a really expensive Porsche Turbo. Sorry if I was being an "asshat". Just building the suspense

It still amazes me that a "mild" FD can keep up with a new Turbo Porsche.

Well being that it's modded is the reason.
good run. You may have been up against a modifed car. You never know.
Here are a couple guys I know. The 996tt is a stage 4 with a little over 600 engine HP. Density altitude the day of the run was about 4500 ft and we had a serious head wind. The other car is a V12 tt RENNtech Mercedes.

Sea level corrected time for the Porsche would have been 11.6 @122, the head wind hurt, but there's not a calculator for that.

A yellow 996 turbo was tailing me for a good minute or two on my way to work the other day. Every time I switched lanes he would follow. I didn't feel like racing. The one thing I have to say: don't you guys think the 997 car is 10xs better looking than the 996?
I had a conversation with a 997 911 owner (too many numbers lol) at a coffee shop one day about the looks of the 996 VS 997. He felt the same way as I do
Anyway, Adam, nice work
So what's the power/weight ratio of your car VS his? not that I'm doubting you!
