2006 civic SI kill

This is not really a good kill but i thought I should mention. There is not much to it, but its still a good story to tell.

So on my way to work I notice an orange SI in front of me with a basic exhaust, it wasn't rice but I just felt like I could take him in my n/a. I think he noticed me and he started to speed up and i decided to follow and see if he really wanted to go. Eventually we get to a light, and I only have this one chance because the next light is were my work is. So we take off, I am about maybe half a car length ahead and when i am in mid 2nd gear he starts to pull ( i did have bad plugs and wires so thats why he was able to pull, not trying to make excuses ) then when I get to third I guess he missed a gear or something because i started to pull ahead again. then we had to slow down because we were catching up to traffic.

So i then pull into the parking lot and drive to the back were nobody else parks, as I do my turn around to park, I notice a white car driving up in front of me, as i am wondering whats going on, it just so happened to be an off duty cop that just got off his shift O_O. So im kinda nervous but i keep my cool, I shut off my car and as he then asks me is my exhaust legal. Obviously no because its a straight pipe, He then asks how did i make flames come out the end of it, was it some kind of mod with a spark plug, I told him no and it was part of how the rotary engine works. He then said "I know its tempting to race in the streets, but I dont want to see this again, your lucky i didnt call this in". Understanding how severe and close I was to getting into deep ****, I just nodded and apologized. He then left... and then I went to work.

This wasn't a kill or a race. The only thing you beat was the law. Lucky bastard.

I 180'd into a parallel parking spot once and had an off duty cop say about the same thing to me

In 2009 when I went to DGRR, me and another FD had left the lodge and were about halfway to The Tail of the Dragon. We were on some nice roads. Windy, but houses in the area, 2 lane highway with 55 mph speed limit. We were running only slightly over the speed limit, for real.

But we caught up to a box truck (like a furniture truck) with a Jeep Cherokee behind it. There were no passing zones around, and the road was windy enough that I couldn't pass both vehicles at a time. Well after a few curves the Cherokee started slightly lagging behind the truck, enough that I could pass him, then a curve or two later pass the truck.

And that's just what I did. First small straight, I ripped past the Cherokee. The guy in the FD behind me later told me that the Cherokee lit up a bunch of blue lights before I even got past it. Little did I know, he was a state trooper in a Cherokee. All his lights were mounted inside his windows, behind the grill, etc. Real slick.

I thought I was gonig to have big trouble, but I just kept calm, showed my respect and no B.S. He just told me not to do it again, and let me go. In hindsight, he baited me by opening up that gap. He wanted to see if I would do it. And I fell for it hook, line & sinker! I got real lucky...

you say lucky, I say you were calm and respectful. I think they generally have a hard time citing 'nice' people.

In some states they send offending vehicles to the crusher. Keep that in mind.

I got the street racing out of me in my younger days. All in all, the track is probably a lot cheaper compared to the legal/insurance liability you run from driving recklessly on public streets, even without the track fee.

First thing is to get off the car and start walking into the shopping mall or whatever.

Did he show the badge before he started asking questions?

* I had a similar encounter where I parked on a gas station. The off duty cop start asking questions inside the store. Me aware of the security cameras there was nothing he could do, just in case he proceeded to perform an arrest.

I hate freakin cops!

You guys got seriously lucky with the cops! I had two buddies of mine get pulled over and both their cars impounded for racing through one gear!

Oh and to the OP: I had a similar story here: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ighlight=civic
