2004 RX8 vs. (newish)Porsche Carrera .... eh?

Well this was an awkward one.

At a stoplight, this Porsche guy comes up next to me..I have a rock CD playing, fairly quiet, probably just audible to the driver over. And so he looks over at me, and BLASTS his music. Gahh!

The light takes about 2-3 minutes to turn, I was quite anxious by the time it did. I THOUGHT he went straight...so as I completed the turn and slowly shifted into third, I look over in my mirror and see him planted right next to me, maybe 1/2 car back. All of sudden, this hellacious growl of a Boxer wails out, and he is off!

I dropped it into 2nd faster then I ever have rev-matched, almost spot on, and was off! All of a sudden as hes pulling away, I hear his exhaust note die out (shift) and suddenly WHAWHAWHAWHA of him hitting the rev limiter! He missed his shift! Hahaha! I go flying by him just as I take it into 3rd.

Sure, he SHOULD have demolished me. But driver > car :-D

Lies?! You can ask my mother, rofl, she was in the car. We were on the way home from Rascals, got some shoes, and this happened on Rt. 32 / 144 intersection.

And yes, I have beaten a modded diesel truck, and my fair share of Mustangs. Driver, man...I don't miss shifts..

Haha theres no shame in being beaten by a diesel truck.... Around here there is a 100+ PSI twin turbo dodge ram that runs 10's and is street driven. My friend in his 2003 BMW m3 vert got quite the surprise when he got spanked by it.

He didn't say if it was the boxster S, the regular boxster has what, 245hp, so yeah, he could have won when the guy missed his shift.

Sounds good but wondering what your mods are on your rx8?
The reason I ask is because my 85 gsl-se has beat a rx8 here locally. His 8 has an exhaust and a K&N filter.

My gsl-se is fast for a NA car (somewhere in the 180-200hp range), my 05 Chevy Duramax with a programmer, and intake (exhaust soon to come) hauls and feels faster than my GSL-SE and well a few years back my 91 TII smoked a Porshe on the interstate as I pulled past him at 145. All this said I would thiink your rx8 would have to be heavy modded to beat my 91TII, my 05 Duramax, much less my gsl-se.
With that said, I also believe alot depends on the driver if the cars are close in the hp ratings.

Nice kill for the Rx8, just hope he don't find you later once he masters the art of shifting. Untill then he is probally wondering why he did not buy an rx8 and save some money. I know that is what the guy I beat in his porshe told me as the ink was dripping from his paper tag. Sad to see these rich people get these car and don't have a clue what to do with them!

Is'nt this what alot of people used to say about the FD? Why would he waste his time making up this story? Why would he pick a Porsche to lie about? Did you guys read what Tim said? Who's going to man up and apologize??

do you not realize that romancer OWNS an RX-8 and he chose the RX-8 over the FD for specific reasons?

Well, if the Porsche was indeed a Carrera as posted in the title then there's no way an RX-8 could run with it. However, he says it was a Boxster in his actual story which is very similar to the RX-8 in regards to performance. Like SNTP said, the Carrera and Boxster are two totally different animals. So which one was it?

Am I the only one catching on to him calling is a Boxer motor, and not calling the car a Boxster? I don't care how true or untrue the story is, but come on, if someone misses their shift and is shifting slow like whoa then its not too hard to have the upper hand.

Uh...I never once called it a Boxster. Oi...reading>you.

BOXER engine..as in..what is in many Porsche's...and many Subaru's..

And maybe none of you noted on the part where I said he SHOULD have demolished me, and before his mis-shift, he WAS. But he was hitting the rev-limiter for a good 2-3 seconds .... just so you can visualize how slow he responds/shifts.

Oh and, my RX8 is bonneeeee stock. Not even an appearance package.

God x.x

Just because you can beat Porsche's and ****..doesn't make any difference in this story. The point is, I beat a Porsche Carrera, due to him mis-shifting, and just plain half-assing the whole driving experience. I am not saying I am FASTER than a Porsche Carrera, but I did KILL ONE! I thought I made this pretty clear with the whole "demolish" line, but apparently some of you just can't get select things thru your skulls.

Selective reading has been breeding ignorance since the dawn of The Bible. Good kill. Perhaps he should have bought one with the Tiptronic and left it in auto. It's sad to know there are people out there that drive sports cars and don't even know how to drive.

Yeah but I mean, when "excited" things happen. I've had my select experiences with drivers that got me all amped for an easy kill, and then I slip second in my rush to "p00n" them.

why is everyone acting like ********. The man has a story to share, and does so hoping to entertain us, but we all call him a liar. I believe 100%. slow shifting , and especially mis shifting can cause even Ferraris to get slow as times.

I wouldn't :-P Although, I WOULD rather own an 8, and an FD, and have money left over for mods. All this for less than the price of the Porsche :-)
