sounds like something might be wrong with your car.. what year and crap is it.. we need info. v6 mustangs are teh slow sauce. go turbo and you wont have a problem with those or the v8's make sure your 5th and 6th ports are working. basicly if you feel power all the way to red line then there is nothing wrong. maybe just a low compression engine.. but if youwer power drops off like at 4500rpms then something is wrong

your RX-7 Stock puts out about.. say.. 160is HP (I dont remember the exact numbers).. That mustang puts out about 230 ish. Thats really the reason you got raped... Go turbo and some performance mods and you will be able to keep up/beat the stang.

Regardless, a N/A 13B will have a tough time.
When I had my '86 FC, I raced a mid-'80s Camaro that had a 305 in it. The "race" was simply when I went to pass him, and he romped on it and wouldn't let me. So I just kept in it, he did too, we stayed neck and neck to 80, then 90, all the way to about 115 or so and....he blew his engine! It was glorious!
The point is, that V8 had around 190 hp and 275 ft./lbs torque, in a much heavier car, and all I could do was stay even with him.

Ya there is nothing wrong with your car.
Despite the fact that the 7 can't lose, you were outmatched.
2002 Mustang: Curb Weight: 3241 lbs, Horsepower: 260 hp, Torque: 302 ft-lbs.
Definitely no chance against that.
2006 Mustang V6: Curb Weight: 3373 lbs, Horsepower: 210 hp, Torque: 240 ft-lbs.
Better chance against that, but still depending on your year you are at best 17.5 lb/hp. Even the heavy V6 is 16 lb/hp, and it is newer than your 7, so it will be making the advertised power.

I just assumed that because my NX2000 could get the V6 Mustangs, that the Rx-7 could but...no dice, not enough low end in the 13B. RX7TyreBurna, are you in a S5 ? Because I have RB downpipe & pre-silencer w/ cat back and still have trouble.
