other night rollin to meet some guys from my area for a cruise. when i see an rx8 in front of me. both coming up to a red light i stayed in the left he's in middle lane. but i stayed a back by his bummper just checkin the car out. didnt think we would run. light goes green hes not moving so i get in front still in1st. hes by my bummper and pacing me so i punch it so does he. hit second hes by my door, 3rd still staying there hit 4th he creeps a little, hit 5th 120mph were side by side then a car gets in his lane he has to slow down. so i get the win by technacality. i know once he hit 6th he wouldve started to walk a little but that wouldve been at 130mph. all in all i was shocked that i kept up with him. he was stock and here are my mods. also figure i needed to do all this to stay dead even wit him. if he wouldve had my mods he wouldve walked me bad. still love the 8.

my mods all motor, thb mod, ports removed,rats nest gone, no emmisions,new intake pipe,dual under drive racing beat pulley and alternator, light weight flywheel, stage2 act clutch,racing beat header stainless,scilencer, apexi single gt spec sooo loouud. full racing beat suspension all around. just need roll cage and id be full race,mazdatrix race diff mount.

 

nice kill, i ran one of those from a roll in my 90 fc na, w/ similar mods and blew past him by 2 cars. it was funny cuzthe guy was drivin all cocky cuttin through traffic and ****. lol keep it up

 

FYI, unless the 8 driver didn't know how to shift, he should've been in 3rd all the way up to 90, and in 4th up to 125....if he was about to go into 6th, he was shifting way too soon

 

you maybe right. i was shifting @9grand. and it seemed that we were hitting the gears at the same time. i know the 8's go to 10grand. so if we were both hitting the gears at 9grand it would explain the even space we had.

 

also we were in the beging of 5th. my 4th gear hits 120mph 5th in my car goes to 160mph. and considering the ratio is closer on the 8's. i belive he would hit his gears before me i could be wrong. had we toped out 5thgear he wouldve had about 2-3 cars. maybe. though i wouldve shut down once i was next to his door.

 

Actually, the 8 redlines at 9100 and fuel cutoff is at 9300
max speed in gear is:
1st: 42
2nd: 67
3rd: 91
4th: 125
5th: 148
6th: 148+

 

it had to have been an automatic.

 

yeah i'm sorry but the 8 is not that slow i got an RX8 and a 90 fc my fc is N/A street ported, single straight exhaust, intake, koyo rad, 9.5 pound flywheel, six puck clutch and some stuff removed for weight saving and my stock Rx8 still has more power then my fc so you either got lucky or it was auto or the driver just sucked.

 

Jorx7....your car actually revs to 9,000, and you can do 160mph....hmm ?? If so, you probably shouldn't shift @ 9,000 considering you're past peak power anyways. He should've spanked you.

 

rx8 don't pull in 6th gear, they hardly pull in 5th for that matter

 

it's not a real 6th gear guys it's just overdrive, i owned on 05 titanium gray but it ate too much gas

so your n/a FC hits 160 in fifth gear, would that be at 9k just like the shifting? did you get the special edition prototype renesis S5 engine?

So i see 180 on my speedo, that must mean my 5th gear hits 180...oh wait it has lol

 

I smell some BS in this thread. the 8 would walk a NA fc by at least a second and a half if it was 6spd.

 

wow thought this thread was done wit. but i was shifting at 9grand. i dont like to do it but the motor is still going strong. i plan on getting my motor built possibly this year. so once the motor is built then ill take out some 8's wit no problem. im gona do auto x wit the car so ill have some time to go up against plenty of all motor cars then. see what happens. and like i said in a earlier post he probably wouldve have goten me past 140mph. it was a night ill surely remember. later
