1990 dsm specs

hi, im looking for the specs of a 1990 egle talon tsi, if anyone can put a link it will be great. im looking for this to see how good this car is, my friend just bought one and well it seems he thinks he has a beast and wants to challenge my 90 TII, being a good sport i said it was ok.

his mods:
1- aerospeed fpr
2-fmic
3-3'' exhaust
4-biggest fart can ive ever seen lol
5- stock turbo pushing 10-11psi.
6-hks bov

my mods: aeromotive fpr, walbro 255fp,800cc secondaries, safcII, spalm e-fan, koyo rad, turbosmart bov, turbosmart bc, racing beat turbo back with no cat, tid mod, right now untuned so psi are at 7psi or 8.

im going to tune the car at 12psi and i think ill be getting around 230-240whp so i think ill beat him even off the line with no probs.

90 TSi's were 195hp IIRC. The turbo eclipses came in FWD(GS-T) and AWD(GS-X), but I think the TSi only came in AWD(at least I've never seen a FWD turbo talon from the factory)

i think you will own him , they have 195 horse for AWD and 190 for just the TSI FWD , Those mods dont really add up because they come stock running 11 psi

TIIs too. FDs come as 13 second cars but that's way off topic, what are you a DSM nutswinger or something?

Hmm, I know DSM can make a lot of HP for just a little money. Very well built motors.

My friend had one, and spent about $1500 and he was at 290 HP. I don't remember what he was boosting though. I know he did FMIC and a few other small things.

Launch I think will be decided by clutch. If your friend is AWD, and has an old clutch and tries to launch with it, he will probably burn it for a while. Power is useless unless it can get to the ground. My friend toasted his pretty quick launching. AWD launches are hard on a clutch. He would rev high and then drop the clutch. When it was pretty new that thing would take off insane fast. But after a while, you could tell it was getting worn.

Let us know how it goes.

he will beat you off the line, but I would say that by the end of 3rd, you will have caught and passed him.

^^well built motors?? Dude those motors blow up as much as rotaries do.. oh and $1500 won't get you 290 whp.. not reliably at least.. either your boy lied to you or he has the hook up. I'm not bashing you, just saying you are misinformed. That is all

If its a 90 all-wheeler the race will be pretty damn close if you no how to drive. He will get you off the line if he launches at 4200 and it dosnt break lol. If its fornt wheel he will spin all the way threw first easly and second will grab around 45ish if he has some decent rubber on their so you will get him off the line and prolly stay ahead of him. If its AWD its a low 14sec car on a daily basis. Ive been with DSMs for a long long time and buschur's only right down the street so its DSM central. last night put a GT28 on a 98gsx and a fmic on a 95 fornt wheeler. it will be a good race form a ROLL for sure. Tell him to turn his boost up a little. Race him now it will be a Good *** race theirs prollyonly about 20hp diff if that right now. IF its Front wheel race from a roll its pointless from a stop.

Heh, he has hook up.

Also, yea. they are pretty strong. Not like supra strong, but they can handle quite a bit of boost. Haha, they do get a lot of crank walk though...... I remember a picture of a crank and it said... walk crank walk.... LoL.. it was funny.

Eh, I think the AWD DSM is pretty nice. But I would rather have a TII or an FD.

thanks for the info guys, i think ill own him even off the line because 1st, this is his first awd car, 2nd i really don't think he will learn to get off the line with that car in a while and 3rd i think hell want to go from a roll and that will be his mistake but will see. also i think im going to postpose the race for a couple of days more because i just received a t04b compressor housing and i will upgrade my stock turbo to a T3/T4 turbo. i don't want to go 2 times to the dyno so ill mount the new turbo and then will tune the car. i don't know what whp ill be getting but i was hopping for 260whp or so.

thanks

Crank walk lol, define crank walk. anything can get "crank walk". If oyur bearings go bad int he bottom end guess what you got "crank walk" weather you got a dsm, supra, or a mini van

the car is awd and it has the potential but i think what is behind the wheel is the one that needs practice lol. i think turning up the boost right now will not be wised, he doesn't even have an apex'i safc just a fpr.

no he wont break anythign from a roll not unless that thing is hacked up pretty good. im thinkn you can beat him the way it is. im positive you can beat him the way it is exspecially from 40mph roll his cars a little on the heavey side. Im tellin you you can beat him the way your car is now just act like your lookn at sumthin under the hood and turn his BC down then if you pull on hiom REAL bad ask him how much boost hes running then hell notice its only at like 8.. it works

240whp might be wishful thinking unfortunately with your mods.. Is it an S5? Then you might be a little closer to those #'s. But unless you have a street port think more around 220whp. Which should still be fast enough to win pretty decisively. Remember you are also lighter than he is

yes it's an s5, i made 220whp a long time ago at 10psi, only mods were safc,rb turboback, walbro 255fp thats it. at 12psi im hopping better numbers. im trying to upload the dyno chart but it says that the file is too big.

Not bad.. either your motor is very strong or that dyno was a little friendly.. but good number nonetheless. Good luck and happy killing man
