Wing height for FC?

Anyone have any suggestions on what wing height I should shoot for? I have an FC and plan on using an APR GTC200 wing, unless anyone has any better suggestions.
The car will primarily be used for track days/driving schools.

Thanks
Ben

Find Carl Byck on this forum, he has the gtc-300 wing on his wide body race car, don't know if he has tested the wing yet though.

I figure he'll chime in, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any suggestions. I don't see any reason this couldn't be open to FDs as well.

Thanks
Ben

Ben, and I have talked, based on the old pressure charts for air flow on an FC, the top edge of my 200 wing was 3" below the tallest part of the roof(center) I measured using a laser level.

When I spoke to the engineers for Amemiya at JGTC(for 45 minute about DF), they said, in essence "as high, and as far back as rules allow". That said, you will quickly get to a point where you have more DF than you can counter(balance) with the front. These wings are relatively low drag, and as such can be a little higher than a dual plane wing. I have the Amemiya FC wing height from DevilFC's wing at home, placement was close to what I have now. My cast aluminum mount broke early on(I have since fabbed steel mounts), so I do not have good test data, but, roof height to 3" below is the range I would work in. The more HP, the more DF you can afford. Unless you are running a ~4" front splitter, and possibly louvred front fender, and a flat bottom(all in the works), a conservative wing location is what I would suggest. You can add immense Df by adding a rear lip to the APR wing. Amemiya tunes DF to an extent on their GT300 car this way. The lip returns upward. and can be seen on the C5R/C6R/Viper comp./Prodrive ferraris, etc(everyone in GTS). It is challenging due to the curve of the trailing edge, but FG, or CF "L" will work. The main thing is making sure that your mounts can transfer all the DF to the suspension. the stock sheet metal deflects, and w/out reinforcement does a poor job of transfering the force. Hope this helps.
Now I just need a tuner, as I "lost" my last one... So I need a High HP E6K tuner, I will probably pay to have some one fly out again ... Carl

Thanks for the reply, I knew you were plump with knowledge on this.

I am running a decent sized front splitter (the one on the FC2000 bumper). My car goes to the chassis shop on Tuesday (roll bar, different fuel cell setup, headers/exhaust, lexan windows) and hopefully the wing arrives in time for them to fab the mounts and reinforce the chassis.

Thanks again
Ben

Ultimately, my mounts will be tied into the frame rails. I'll try to send you some pics of my front portion of the flat bottom in the next couple days. Carl

I'll see if I can re-size, otherwise email me at c.byck@comcast.net, and I will send some pics. This is just the front tray, the final evolution will be a dropped flat bottom with a splitter similar to the RE GT300 car, ie concave, drooping at the edges into a flat bottom. This is the only way I can get the tires big enough, and the flat bottom low enough to have any substantial effect.
