Want to get your car on the Road Course? Want a free track weekend? NASA promotion..
Thought I'd pass this along to hopefully encourage some of you guys to get out on track. If you aren't in the Southeast, pressure your respective regions to run the same promotion
NASA Southeast announced this past weekend it is running a promotion for next year(yes, you will need to attend a Southeast event to utilize this) that allows the first time track people to run a HPDE-1(novice) full WEEKEND for free! That's right... no $300-$400 track fee. You will basically get several blocks of classroom instruction as well as 8 20 minute sessions with an instructor helping you along in your passenger seat. The purpose of this promotion is so newcomers can try a track day/weekend out to see if they like it or not all the while saving them the track cost they normally have to pay. I'd say I'm confident that most of you will be back after that and obviously they are too All the details will be posted here:
http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=31967
The 2010 NASA-SE schedule is posted on their homepage listed here:
http://nasa-se.com/
For all you guys that aren't brand new...
They are also running a promotion for the entire month of December where you can save over a $100 on track fees by signing up this month. Check out the website for more details.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask away.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Won't do me a whole lot of good, being so far away, but I'll pass it along to our local club and see if they can use it to apply some pressure somewhere.

That is a very good possibility! I drove almost 10hrs up into the upper peninsula to attend an event a friend was hosting, probably wouldn't be any worse heading down there! Having a truck/trailer makes a world of difference in doing long hauls for these kinds of things, I'll have to keep an eye on the dates for those NASA events and see if I can't make it out there.
Thanks for posting this up, DEFINITELY a good deal for anyone on the fence. And Brent is 100% right, once you get behind the wheel on a race track there is no turning back, you'll be hooked.

This looks like a great way to get people out to the track. What is the limit for the size of the groups in the sessions? I may just have to get some good R-comps or slicks for my new Diamond Racing 15x7's and make the trek south, camping for a weekend.

Whitey, you need to consider doing Zoom Fest with me this year. I couldn't make it last year due to my broken foot, but this year I will be there unless I'm dead.
And the Deals Gap Rotary Rally is another event you don't want to miss. The wife and I had a blast last Spring...

It was just a northern region SCCA auto-x at sawyers airport, a friend of mine designed the course, ended up being good drift practice for the FD :P lol. It was in Marquette, so maybe not quite 10hrs but close. It was the first long haul for my truck/trailer so I was taking it easy most of the way doing 60-65 (averaged 20+mpg though!).
