Is the grand course the full course including the oak tree end? I tried to figure it out from the vir website but there are so many configurations of the grand course that it made no sense at the time.

The grand is basically the Full course plus the south course.

...plus the north course cut over ;-)

They will be running "Grand East". This is one of the two longest track configurations they have. You start off running the full course (outer loop) from the start line through Oak Tree (turn 11) and then down the long back straight. Towards the end of the back straight, you take the hard right and run the inner loop of the the course (the Patriot course) which then dumps you back onto the Full Course at the top of Roller Coaster (turn 14) where you run down through hog-pen and past the start/finish completing one lap.

Lather, rinse, repeat. ;-)

The pros: a long and very challenging course with a huge number of turns.

The cons: if you aren't used to the course there is almost too much to remember. Also, you will get fewer laps in for a given session.

I'll hopefully be there in June with my new track FC!

Hope this helps,

-bill

Cool, I enjoyed that configuration last time I was there, except when I cooked my brakes turning off the back straight onto the patriot course.

I'm going to try and make this one. I've never been to a mazdadriver's event, how does the format compare to that of a NASA HPDE-style weekend?
