Oh I got something coming for Wally and my lap times if I can make it to VIR in March... like a not so large gap 315 front, 335 rear, new coilovers, brakes that work, and A6's. I think it'll get the car there... may not be any hope for the driver though.
I also decided that I'm going to start running ST2 on occasion as well, although it may be a year or two given my current situation.

It already has a cam unfortunately. If it didn't, I'd prob. be able to add the wider tires without adding weight. I'll be adding a couple hundred pounds of ballast to compensate for the wider tires, which I think will end up working in my favor as I can completely corner balance the car in 1/4's or 25%... however you want to look at it, and lower my center of gravity a bit.
Haven't pulled the trigger on the coilovers yet, but it'll prob. be Penske's. Just have to figure out which set I want. Talked to Matt about some options. I want them for RA in March, but I also want to go to Penske and be there with the builder when they are built. I prob. should of just bought yours... Guy, you'll like your new suspension upgrade
I think the brakes, coilovers, and wider A6 tires(arrived this week) will get me 3 seconds over my current set up on A6's. I dropped a little over 2 seconds when I switched from A's to R's(on the sticker run). If I can make it to VIR at the end of March, and we have some nice cool weather, I think my goal is going to be a 2:03.x. Who knows if I can get there, but it's a goal. It was a 2:07.3 on R's. It's amazing how the lap times have dropped compared to hp to weight.
BTW, I think I'm going to do Mid Ohio with NASA in April, you should look into it. Nationals are back at Mid Ohio this year.

I like where your heads at regarding the weight, tire power thing. The reason those lap times are dropping has something to do w/ the omnipotent driver modifications.

Yes, I am looking forward to the new suspension setup. The FEED bushings are installed (giant pita), the shocks are being refreshed and the springs are on the way.
I "borrowed" Niles' A6s for the last event this year. That's what happens when you leave your trailer key available and you're out of town. The A6s are good to go on the first lap, but I thought the front end started pushing a little after about 20 minutes or so. However, I had not run these tire sizes previously.

Fritz, as long as I'm around, I'll be there. I won't know for sure until I finish this school in hopefully the start of March. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me shortly after I return back to the real world then.
Guy, what spring rates are you going to run next year? Sounds like you are going to be shaving some significant time this off season as well! What tires were you running previously? Most of the guys here practice on their old A6's, qualify on a new set, and then race on the same set. They do start to fall off a little towards the end of a 30 minute race/session due to heat, but the data tends to show they are still faster than the R6's.
Pete- as I'm sure you know, there are a ton of different combo's you can do... not just the 7500, 8300, and 8700. The current top contenders are the 7565 dual bleed and the 8665, which is like what they run in the rolex series.

I ran R6s last year (285/30/18s on 10.5in rims). Truth be told, I was probably only running about 85-90 percent of the cars capability. I was slowly adding speed as I dealt with development issues. One thing about running where I did last year was that I was constantly in battle with fast drivers in compromised cars; it was a very instructive season. Things should be spicy next year as I'm planning on jousting with some of the hard hitters!
Last year I had moved up to 850f and 750r springs and I'm going to 1000f and 900r for the first go around with the new suspension setup.
The thought of being on track is intoxicating right now, but the reality is that I have many hours of fab work to complete before I get the car out for an exhaust and a tune.

Still not bad prices
Sadly, I've got more than that into my car and more to go to get it barely competitive - as many have said, the FD is no longer the big dog, but I do love the car and it's easier to put in a bit more money into the one I have vs. go buy something new....but if I could do it over, a complete car like the M2 car would be niiice.
The biggest issue with the M2 car was the computer, they couldn't get the power out if it correctly, at least when I saw it last year and spoke to Brian's dad. Put a Wolf or new LINC system in it with the right tuner and they could extract more power. I saw the car in action at Infineon right up to point Brian blew up a rear hub in the Carousel, very exciting spin after that, and his day was over.
You could do worse if you wanted a FD complete and ready to go.

this was a long time ago, but M2 built 3 cars total.
the blue one, which got raced. the second i wanna say was yellow? it got raced too
the third was built from brians old DD after it got hit in a parking lot, it started life as a red base model. it turned into a super bad *** car, but it never got raced.
i'm thinking since the locks car is badass, that its the 3rd car, but that it just a guess on my part.

Just a little more information...
This is part of an email I received from Sterling Cole, the person I bought my CYM racing FD from...

On the other hand, here is some interesting info. The Brian Lock guy's black car was re-built by my dad from almost the ground up! My father used to work for Brian Richards at M2, and that car was M2's last ditch effort at Speed GT. Sadly, it never raced. All of the custom carbon fiber work was done by my father as well as any other custom fab on the car. What a small world.
Finally, the coup de grace. If you look on this page: http://www.tappedracing.com/history.html the third row of pictures on the far left, that is your car. No doubt about it. That is what the car looked like when I bought it and it is parked in front of the old Mostly Mazda garages in Concord, CA. Fresh off a race at Road Atlanta in the Speedvision series. The car was built for Mike Neujahr of Napa, by Brian Richards and M2. It was raced in a couple Speedvision races by Mike and then sold to me. I did a little work to it, raced it in a few Motorola Cup races (same series, just re-named) with Brian Richards and then relegated her to SCCA.
