CA Two Tapped Racing FDs on SF Craigslist...

I have no affiliation with these cars...I'm just letting folks know they're available. They were both recently driven by Brian Lock. - Guy

That's too much of a race car... you wouldn't be able to use "almost" anymore If you got that, I get a couple laps around VIR?

yeah the M2 people spent a LOT of time building that, it shows, its an f-ing awesome car.

ALL of the custom fab work on that car is really well thought out and executed.

I agree. This is the car that put Brian out of business. I remember him saying that he should stop waiting for custom carbon bits to arrive and just go racing. It is a true pro build. Top dollar. but now old school. That was 12 years ago. It's a time warp piece as it is "as new".

Wish I had it.

Yep and I really am considering it but the price is off the charts. I think it's because of the historical value but I just don't place a value on that at all

Here's a modern race car: http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/ot...49445743ss.htm

Imagine all the lap records you'd set with this beast running in local NASA events

50k buys a lot of race car especially in todays market.

996 GT3 race cars are selling for 60k and less............ BRUTAL market. http://www.rennlist.com/ads/

This is by far the best value I've seen on an FD track car

The history equation is hard to value. If you wanted to go vintage racing with an FD there aren't many options. That being said, if I had 50k to spend on a race car I'd find another 15k and pick up the GT3 or RX8.

So.......what is the M2 car worth? It never raced in it's current form. Has no championships in its history. No spares. etc. Who drove it before it's rebuild, any names?

If the cage was legal I'd buy it. The pipes look really thick so I think they are the older variety that are no longer legal.

Yea

It's also hard to tell how developed it is. I looked up times for it and except for the Thunderhill in reverse time not are all that fast. A season or two of racing would help their cause to some extent, but the car is 18 years old at this point.

I would think $35K is closer to what it's worth. Unfortunately they probably have 90K into it. I've found cars like this are generally worth what you can part it out for -$5K. I know that's where I would have to value mine at, not that I'm selling.

If the car has a log book then you may be able to grandfather it. That's the key to an older race car. If it doesn't have a log book then it could be a can of worms to get track worthy to the newest regs.

Fritz and I have both been dancing around with buying the killer bee on ebay for some time, Fritz more so than me as of recent. I think we are both up to our ears in cars right now though. Epperly's car is basically a well sorted track car and prob. has been since the mid to late 90's. Alot of nice parts that were only made in small quantities for an FD track generation of yesteryear that is mostly now extinct. As far as I can tell, it only needs a tune for the new engine. It would cost alot more to replicate that thing. If anyone is looking to get a track car, this is prob. the one to get.

Do you have any thoughts on that cage. I called Mitch at Piper Motorsports and he's concered it's the older (thicker) type piping that's no longer legal. The cage was put in around 92 or so.

If it has a log book it will be legal. If not and it's 1.5" x .120 wall it would be legal in SCCA up to 2699 lbs with driver. At 2505 I'm sure there is still a little weight that could be removed if needed.
