VA Track Tire Question

What size tire and width is recommended for and FD when you are doing track events? Not AutoX but more road race

I use to race with hondas when I was younger at the track and had my frist track experience with my FD in october, the rear end slide out waayy too much for my liking. So I am trying to figure out what is the best setup before I spend the money and attend more track sessions.
