There is a race this weekend but I can't get a hold of anyone that can answer my questions. I relocated my battery (51R) to the rear bin. It's in there ver snug but not tied down. The other concern is i'm not shure what DB my exhaust is. If they test at idle, I should be fine but only at idle.

 

The last SOLO tech I've been through was about 5yrs ago but I'm sure they will want the battery held down with something metal and it will need to have the positive terminal covered. As for sound level, just run it and worry if they say something. If its been OK on the street and you can drive by cops with it you should be OK at a SOLO. It may sound loud compared to stock cars but there are so many variables in measuring it I wouldn't worry.

 

^^ Yes, get the battery secured. Big issue for tech inspection.

As for noise, your region will likely have a db meter and will take readings at a predetermined distance off course to measure sound when you are likely to be at mid to high throttle. After you get a run in, you'll know where you stand.

I have a 3" dp, exhaust, and hi-flow cat, and mine measures around 88 to 91 db @ 50 ft.

 

As one of the tech inspectors for our region I'd have you fix the battery hold down.

It's not enough for the battery to be sitting in the bin where it can't get loose into the passenger compartment; it needs to be solidly mounted. Your entire electrical system is connected to that heavy battery and the car is going to be tossed around much harder than it ever has before. Last thing you want is the battery moving around and tugging on the battery cables and connections. Best case, damaged cables or terminals. Worst case, fire.

We typically keep some really long and thick nylon zipties with us so that if you have no way of cinching the battery down we can often fix you up well enough to get you through tech for the day. We hate to turn people away and I'm sure other clubs are the same, but in the end it's your responsibility to prepare the car.

 

Thank you for the replies. I forgot I posted this. I was able to run (maybe I got lucky being my first time). My battery doesn't have the metal tie down but it does not budge (51R wedged in bin) and I think that is what they looked for and I have a circuit breaker. I plan on having one of those metal holders welded down for the battery. At idle the car is pretty quiet but loud at wot. There were two Hondas way louder then mine bar far. It was the first race of the season, so it's possible they will get more strict.
