strange fluid temps

Willow Springs memorial weekend.
80F ambient

12a J-Bridge. Many internal oil mods for longevetity

Water 150-160F
Oil 200-210F

50/50 water/coolant and some WaterWetter with Howe tall crossflow aluminum radiator, good water pump, gutted thermostat, plugged bypass, new hoses.

Rx4 oil cooler removed and plugged byass, -10 lines, 100psi. Stock oil filter location with Purolater filter. Oil cooler in front of radiator, just in front of round cross tube on 1st gen.

Only spun the motor to 8,000rpms

Water should be warmer, oil cooler.

Any ideas?

Sorry I didn't stop by and say HI Tims, saw the yellow 7 there but too busy working on car. Nice finish in the night Enduro!

might need an additional oil cooler. I run a stock turbo II cooler and a seperate setrab or B&M oil cooler in series. the higher the rpm the more oil cooler you will need. the second gen cooler seems to work better than the rx4 model. good luck and stop by next time.

oil and water temps on the track won't always be the same. I use Mobile 1 5-30 or 15-50 depending on weather conditions, but I tend to run the thinnest oil possible. redline is just not in my budget

Mobil1 Synthetic 15/50.

Might try Royal Purple if oil temp gets too hot.

I'm making an aluminum splitter mounted in the nose of the car to have a dedicated air source for the oil cooler. It'll sit on top of the oil cooler go forward to the bumper.

Where is your Temp pick-ups mounted. Depends if that is the temp coming out or goin into the motor. With our 2nd gen we normally see temps ranging from Water 190-210 and Oil 200-210 on a good day. Will be out at willow this weekend so I will check our temp then.

Water temp in the water pump housing (I think that's going out). Oil temp under the oil filter (coming into the motor).
