Some Finished Pic's of my Cage....

Hey guys. I pick the car up tomarrow so I'll take some more pic's then. And yes they put the rear bins back. In the pic he took they're not there, but he re-installed them today. Line lock is in too. Overall, Im very pleased with the way it turned out. Nice thing is, you can't even tell it has a cage from a side profile pic.

i dunno much about drag cages, i'm surprised there is no harness bar or triangulation at all on this cage. How quick can you go with this cage legally? looks clean

I don't know, but it's certified to 7.50's. As long as I have the certification it won't matter.

you originally said you were getting a 10 point........... I only see 6.

Alot of drag cars don't have that harness bar. By your pics, you don't have one either. No big deal.

Looks good.

This is a 10 point cage

Looks to me like the harness bar is there in 2 of the pics. Looks to be a curved bar. For a DD/Streetcar, the doorbar is a little high to me, but from the hoop forward looks good.

The doorbar is a bit high for me too. I may go back and get swing outs.

Thats a 12 point. 10 point has everything in that pic except it doesnt penetrate the firewall.

Aren't all chassis contact areas considered points?

Yes. For some reason Art Morrison doesnt count the contacts of the door bars as points because they meet at the A pillar bar. 99% of the industry count the door bars as 2 points.

I dont know why Art Morrison doesnt, doesnt make sense to me. Traditionally when the cage penetrates the firewall it is on a 12 or 14 point cage.

Im not a roll cage expert so I don't claim to know much about it except for the fact thats its been certified which makes it leal to 7.50's. Not that I'll ever be nearly that fast...lol....
BTW...Who is Art Morrison? lol....

Harness bar is there and is required in all roll bar and roll cages to be legal. It looks to be 1.25" with is legal. It can be seen behind the drivers seat near the seat belt openings. It is bent back which is also legal. There may even be 2 - 1.25" diag. Bars from the main hoop to the tunnel, which is only required if the car has Sub frame connectors. Some tech like to see them in all cars. Helps with main hoop deflection in case of roll over.

Door bars look legal, need to be that high because bar has to go between should and elbow while driver is in driving position. Would like to see your doors, have they been altered to allow clearance of the door bar?

It would not be called a 14 point cage with only 12 mounting points. You need to double check your facts. A mounting point is what is counted. A door bar does not count as a mounting point unless it stops short of meeting the A pillar bars and has a weld pad to the chassis. Even if the tube is touching the rocker as it goes from front to rear. Interference fit is not a point.

You can build a 4 point cage the penetrates the firewall. Has nothing to do with it.

Obviously a mounting point is what is counted. The industry widely counts the door bars even if they meet the A pillar bar. That is where Morrison is different from most other cage manufacturers. That is why I said for some reason Morrison doesnt count it, when the rest do. They DONT count it becuas eit meets the A Pillar bar. A fit at the A pillar is well accepted as a mounting point. Look at Morrisons webiste where it specifically says "Please note that while Morrison lists this as a 10-point cage, to reflect the true number of chassis contact points, other manufacturers call this a “12-point” cage, adding in the side bars (which are included in the Morrison kit) to their count." So I dont see where my facts were wrong at all. MOST other manufacturers call it a 12 point.

I never said anything about a 14 point being a 12 point or anything about a 12 or 14 point HAS to penetrate the firewall. Most people would recognize a full cage like Lupe posted as a 12 point cage.

Please understnad it when I said "TRADITIONALLY" a 12 or 14 point cage penetrates a firewall and it does. You dont see many 14 point plus cages for NHRA that have that many points and dont penetrate the firewall. Obviously you could may a 4 point fiasco penetrate the firewall but that is not the TRADITIONAL thing to do.

Cage looks fine for drag racing. I would say it is certified to 8.50's. The 2005/2006 NHRA rulebook requires quite a few more points than that to be good to 7.50's I believe.

How tall are you? Are you able to wear your helmet and not hit that bar that traces the roofline along the door?

Mine with a sunroof would hit my helmet on that bar. Stupid Touring model.

You need a kirkey seat.......... I put a kirkey drag pro in mine last week and it sits 3 inches lower and is alot more comfortable than my old sparco evo 2's.
