SCCA Time Trails/PDE Club Racing events

I opened this month's "Sportcar" magazine and found a really cool article about the new "Time Trials" events they're offering. Basically, it looks like its a step between Club Racing and SOLOII. You get all of the safety features of SOLOII (and street cars are allowed), but a little higher speeds on specially prepaired road race courses.

The first step is basically a driving school called the "Performance Driving Experence (PDE). From there, you can enter the "Club Trials" which adds timed competition to the event.

This seriously looks like a fantastic idea. I know I often get frustrated with the lack of "seat time" at SOLOII events, but there's no way I can afford to get into Club Racing... Viola!

It's listed under "Club Racing" on the SCCA page.

welcome to my world of racing! its actually really fun. The club I run with is similar to SCCA. For our events it is just like solo2 except well its on a real track. The nice thing is we get 2 3lap practices and then 3-4 real runs usually. Typically our club charges $100 IIRC. just like in solo2 we have a standing start and do 1 lap and then pit in. and do that 3-4 times. I like it better than solo2 for the reason you said of seat time.

At least with the St. Louis Regions Club Trials event, the participants actually got more seat time than the Club Racing Guys did. 2 20 minute sessions on the Sat. event, and a 20 minute Practice and 30+ minute Trial
