SCCA racing on Speed TV

For those interested the E production race from the SCCA runoffs will be on Speed TV today at 2:00 pm. The race will include many Mazda racers including some of the guys from this forum. "Butlips" will be there in his FB and myself Dave Lemon and Tony Rivera will be representing the FC crowd. Out of the 45 or so cars more then half are mazdas. I'll be starting last due to a pit lane infraction earlier in the week. Dave is on the front row and I'm sure puts on a great show. Enjoy the show and get yourself out to an SCCA race next season.

So what did you break??? the knuckle or the steering arm/rack? I was commenting to my dad that your car looks damn good, I might try a similar look on mine

Thanks Paul. I'm always amazed at how many compiments I get on the looks of the car. Funny thing is though, when people get a little closer they see how rough it is! Its the old 50/50 rule. If it looks good at 50 feet at 50mph its good enough for racing! I prefer to spend my time on making the car go faster.

The first hit broke both front fenders and the splitter. The smoke in the car from the rubbing tire and the lack of downforce was slowing me down. The red and silver car was one that I had passed and was putting time on but then he passed me back. What you can't see from the broadcast is that he gets loose coming over the top of the hill and as he corrects his rear wheel swings into my front bending the tierod in half. I'll be back next year if the car doesn't sell.

Thanks Bern, (I think?) What really kills me is that they only show the crashes. I started dead last out of 46 cars. That means that I passed 38 of them clean on my way to sixth when I got together with Dernell. Like we used to say in the service 10 "ata-boys" equal one "oh ****"

Ps: Tell the gang I said Hi.

No problem John... you had a real good run going. Good thing you stuck with Chima, him being the defending champ, he got some good air-time that you shared!! good job! Too bad you and Jeff D. got together. We had the same thing happen to us at Laguna last year, when a Porsche GT3 decided to pass us on the outside of turn eleven... broken tie-rod!

I'll make sure and say hi to the boys!

Wow that's pretty cool that you were there. I didn't read this thread until now.

Ask Dave why he didn't pull off of the course when he was spewing oil out!

I talked to him and he didn't know he was spewing that much oil. He thought his engine was smoking badly, when actually, he had a bad oil leak he didn't know of or notice. Dave is pro, and wouldn't have oiled down the track on purpose or anything... I'm sure he felt bad after the race.

Damn wish I had seen this earlier. Oh well, I worked for Jeff Dernehl until last week. That was a pretty good race. Although watching the video from jeffs in car camera it sure doesn't look like he got side ways until you guys got into each other.

His axle housing got broken in that accedent and he was all over the track after that.
I'm suprised he did as well as hr did considering his engine was trashed and he didn't bring a spare to run.

It was a very good race to watch though. A lot of action.
