If I'm not mistaken that is the courtyard at the Mazda R&D in Irvine.
Is this a hint that there is a plan for a factory sponsored MX-5 race team.
BMS,
The general paint scheme has been used on several mazda race cars since the 91 LeMans win. Several colors have been used but the green and orange is the most recognizable. My favorite is silver and dark blue. I saw it on a Miata a few years ago.

That is one beautifully prepared new Miata! If it is an Rx-8 based chassis, then there could be truth to the rumor of a special edition available with a Renesis. Too expensive for the first few years, but what a racecar that will make down the road. Very nice pics.

This looks like the new Pro Spec Miata. The SCCA sticker on the lower front fender appears to me to be a Pro Racing one. The cars in blue and silver livery have been at the Runoffs in SSB for a number of years now, and I believe Rick Gilhart has driven one of them on more than one occasion. I have pulled a couple of them out of China Beach.
What a beautifully prepared car!

It's interesting that people identify these colors with Mazda (due to the 1991 Le Mans win, of course) as I believe this paint scheme is a huge ad for Renown, a Japanese clothing company.

The fancy paint job is for promotional purposes and this car will see lots of print. Mazda better boost sales for the MX-5 as they've been in the toilet for the last few years.
