If you search around that web site, they also have the SAE paper on the series 4/5 13b.

Awesome find. Interesting the 3 spark plug per rotor setup doesn't aid in power, only in fuel econ.

Thats messed up that they banned it after mazda wiped the floor with everyone else. It seems like they would have done the same thing with audi when they made the switch to diesel and dominated

that is an urban legend.

Groupe C cars were nearing the end of their days before the 787 came along. Its not just the 787 that went away... the 962s, Suabers, all found themselves without a series- because of a engine spec change (3.5 liter f1 engines) . Porsche found a creative way around the rule change with a "street car" The Dauer 962!!! one of my favorite "street cars"

Couldn't Mazda have fielded a rotary car in another class then?

If you register with the website, you can download the paper. That's how I have the full colour original version saved on my computer...

After the 1991 Le Mans win, rotormotors did okay in IMSA GTP a few years but have had uncompetetive rules in ACO, IMSA & ALMS since then. Grand-am has welcomed the 3 rotor peripheral port with open arms and fair rules in the GT class and it shows.
