Rollbar/hoop/cage into a convertible

Is there any major structural differences between the coupe and convertible that would prevent me from installing a rollover bar in an FC convertible? I understand that the chassis has to be stiffened up some in order to keep the thing from flexing too much with out the roof, but does it change the shape of the floor pan so much that a coupe's roll bar would not fit? I would assume that the installation of a roll bar or cage in a 'vert would make the usage of the top pretty impossible, but I really don't care about the top's functionality anyways. Can someone who has done something like this or knows about this kind of thing help me?

As a first guess, I would say that your main issue would be the location of the rearward braces. There do exist bars made specifically for the vert.

The Autopower convertible bar does not have rear braces, it bolts to the seatblet towers instead, as rear braces will interfere with the top. I don't think that'd be track legal though.

Let me know just how much of a cage you want to end up with. There is a vert E Prod car in my shop, full SCCA cage in it if you want ideas. The rear supports on the hoop go to the wheel well hump close to the shock tower. Its not the best place but it was done before I touched the car. The owner put them there when he did the first version of the cage and built everything around them so its tough to change now. Of course, he's been racing for over 40 years and I think he would run with a leather cap and goggles if they would let him.

The biggest difference from the coupe to the vert inside is the area right behind the seat that kicks up from the floor to the rear wells. The vert has that extra hunk of metal that goes the whole width of the car and raises that ridge. That is the best place to mount your drivers hoop, a lot better than the floor.
