Smile Rolex 24

Hello all, I recently returned from Daytona where i went to my second 24 hour race. We had a great time and the two Speedsource cars did great!! The sound of that three rotor wailing down the front straight is someting not to be missed. We also met King Richard Petty in the stairwell of the Champions Clubgot a pic with him and a autograph. The DP race was great to as i am sure most of you saw. How many others went to the race? Now i want to stick a 3 rotor in my track FD!!
Jim

I went. I was crewing with the wonderful ROAR Racing team. They field 2 RX-8's in Gran Am Koni Challenge. I then stayed for the 24 hour.

I put an account of my experience on the RX8club forum.

I hate how they never really show the cars in this series and focus SOOO much attention and video footage on the Prototype cars.

I saw pics of cars that participated that i never even knew competed there, kinda sad that those teams don't get mentioned at all.

I'll have to say also, those Rolex RX8's were some badass sounding cars. I was there crewing with the Koni Challenge I-MOTO team, 3rd and 5th

I was disappointed with the coverage as well. I still think the DP cars are hideous and fairly useless (it amuses me that they call them "prototypes" at all). I was more interested in the GT cars but unfortunately they were never on camera unless one of them had wrecked.

In my experience the ALMS races have much better coverage of each class.

Great job with the ROAR team. I was there for the koni race as well and thought your car looked good and sounded good too.We probably were at 18 of the 24 hour race. I really thought the #70 car had a chance at a podium finish and i look forward to seeing how they do running a full schedule. I can only imagine how exciting it was crewing and participating in a race at such a great historic track. I was jacked just watching the great cars and fantastic driving. It was too bad the koni race had so many damn cautions!! I will post pics soon. Jim

Here is a pic of the start. Speedsource cars qualified 3rd and 7th. Tried uploading some more pics but they were too large.
