Your going to race that? Isn't it a little too purdy to be beating around the track?

Good Job!! What color blue is that?

Looks great. Makes me wish I'd completely stripped mine before starting the build.

Yes we are going to race it!
Nah, it looks good but is by no means perfect bodywork. Besides racecars are supposed to look good. If they get hit or crash, just get more paint

It is Mazda Winning Blue

Who do you guys go to (around the Bay Area) for race car body work? I have an almost free Miata that I'm prepping and needs paint and rocker panels.

The bodyshop I used is a "sponsor" La Loma7 in Berkeley 510-848-1088. Not really a "cheap" bodyshop. If you are looking for a racecar paint job try a Miracle or Maaco. I know Miracle in Napa used to give a NASA deal. Call the NASA office 510-232-NASA and ask them if it is still available. Just make sure the car is prepped and ready to go as you want it. If you get a cheap paint job be aware, they won't touch anything, just spray it.

Cool. I just purchased my friend's PTE Intregra that could be bumped into PTD pretty easily with some slight modification. Too bad you're on the left coast :p

I like it. I plan on building a single exhaust like that too. A buddy of mine runs a pair of those dynomax's, I wonder how loud a single one is? Twice as loud?

Are the curves in the exhaust too extreme in that it will negatively effect exhaust flow?

You mean in the sense that it isn't completely mandrel-bent? Perhaps a little. There are a crapload of exhaust-theory threads here that you can search. I used to get into it when I ran a Racing Beat true-dual race exhaust. (Arguably the best system there is except for weight, and cost.)

IMO a simple setup like wolf packs is functional, cost-effective and reasonably light. It won't hold up as long because of the thin-wall-piping, but this is a race-car were talking about... everything will be replaced.

Maybe wolf packs next setup will be fully mandrel-bent? The good thing is, when this one wears out he can use it as a mock-up for the next version because its already been fitted.

IMO the thing he needs to worry about most is noise... It would suck to get black-flagged for being too loud. It's gonna be close without pre-silencers. Probably 50/50 chance he can get away with it... and of course it will get louder when it breaks in lol

Well there is a total of 5 bends. All of them are mandrel bent. Not sure about the Db. We'll see...

Gotta put a turn-down on the tip of the muffler to point it away from the sound measuring station

The turn down (not pictured) is set up for 3 different positions pending track and location of db meter

Definitely going to be loud. Probably will pass sound at those tracks though. I recommend wearing ear plugs. I had to quiet my exhaust down a little because it was ringing & hurting my ears on track.
